Solar

Desert wanderers, reclusive nomad tribes, enigmatic figures only rarely seen- Solars keep mostly to themselves.   They appear as glass vessels of humanoid shape, full of floating lights that bubble inside like a lava lamp. Their hands are sharp and can form into sharp points, and their heads are completely smooth and featureless. Every solar varies in size, shape, and pattern of light, but to outsiders they appear almost identical and alien.   Many solars live in isolated nomadic tribes, seasonally migrating North-South to follow summers. Solars eat sunlight, and unless they are magically modified, they typically are struck by fatigue during winters. These solars are known for their shunning of material things- they need only sunlight and community, and they fail to understand how other sentient species live. Nomadic solars often adopt "trait names" that describe them such as Ponder, Virtue, Quiet, or Grace upon reaching adulthood.   There are also urban solars that have found ways to thrive year-round without travelling. Many in the West have received blessings from the Immortal Aysha , or live in buildings with large numbers of Continual Flames. In the East, many Solars live in the mirrored city of electric lights- Odija . Others simply find ways to deal with winter months, accepting months of fatigue as a price for living free.   Solars are the only race to naturally have access to Clerical Magic   As Player Characters, Solars have the following statistics:
  • +2 Int, +1 stat of choice

Basic Information

Genetics and Reproduction

Solars do not mate in pairs, but in clusters of three. During this process, the excess light built up over years is transferred into a brilliant cocoon-egg of light. This egg gestates for about a year before hatching into a young solar. Due to the energy requirements and logistics of finding three compatible mates, Solars produce young infrequently.

Growth Rate & Stages

Solars grow over the course of 20-30 years to adulthood.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Solars need only light and air to survive; though they do need consistent exposure to both

Solars have a very acute sense of sight and can see infrared and ultraviolet light. They cannot smell or taste. Solars also have extremely limited telepathy
