Agamine the Lost

The Silent God, Agamine Vezula (a.k.a. The Toad)

When the large moon is quarter visible and the small moon is black, Agamine is given regency over the world.   Agamine's times in charge are times of silence. Agamine rarely listens to mortal questions, promotes paladins, gives advice. What rare paladins they do make are somewhat paradoxical- they are paladins of restraint, chosen for their sparing use of their power. Agamine shuns the pomp and presentation of other Demigods, presenting plainly and honestly. They refuse the title of God and the power that comes with it. They have looked upon the horrors of the world and decided that they can only make it worse.    Instead of spending time with the other Immortals, Agamine prefers the company of the dead. They often invite in the deceased souls of humans, offering a chance for peace and happiness to those souls trapped in Purgatory. They are comfortable that helping the dead escape torment is the purest, least destructive kind of good that can be done.    Even though Agamine rejects the title of God, they are worshiped nonetheless. Agamine doesn't even tell them to stop (as that may have dire consequences), so they continue- forming a vision of the Brave, Powerful, Wise God of Secrets and Creation. Agamine created The Empty, and basically created Maradia- though even that restrained land is painful for Agamine to look upon.    Few living mortals in the past millennium have spoken to Agamine. Know that if you do, you are one of the a unique few- and that the expectations are high. For this is the Dead God, and the world sits as a burden on them and their few.

Personal history

Agamine was once a member of the reclusive Vetuza clan, in the mountains of Northern Maradia. Agamine was not popular or influential within this clan- in fact, they were somewhat on the fringes due to their fascination with human culture. Overlooked as a leader and a smith and known for their quiet demeanor, they volunteered to act as a merchant- journeying down the mountains to the human-dryad settlements to trade their goods for salt and luxuries. They had few friends, and were stuck between the two reclusive communities- not really appreciated among humans or Prisms. As the storms grew worse and the mineral-hauls proved unlucky, the clan fell on bad times.   One day, in 595 DE, they were struck by divine inspiration: Halcyon sent down the blueprints for automated worker constructs, which Agamine dubbed "Companions" and now known as The Empty. But construction of these is resource-intense, and Agamine's clan were unwilling to invest in this mad scheme. Instead, a human pepper merchant, Zepra the Falconer, one of Agamine's trading partners in town, volunteered the resources. As Agamine focused on this project and spent more time with non-Prisms, the rest of their clan grew suspicious of them. Times were still tough, and Agamine's use of clan resources with these strange outsiders led to them losing almost all their Prism friends (even family turned on them).   After a year of this, Agamine finally created the first construct. Immediately, Agamine's popularity skyrocketed- human, dryad, and prism alike flocked to them, pleading them for one. Agamine was elected honorary leader of the Vetuza clan, though Agamine's job was less to lead and more to make as many constructs as possible. Word began to get out, and other clans and tribes flocked to the Vetuza, desperate to buy one of these miraculous constructs. Agamine became desperate- unable to tell who to trust, who to help, and who was genuine. Halcyon sent down a message thus: "Keep it close to him and within the land for now, but hopefully not forever. These are meant to build cities up, not tear them down. It will be tough discerning right from wrong, but take your time. You are being watched over".   Agamine, hearing this, worked with their few genuine friends to form a group: The Cult of Living Stone. The Cult of Living Stone was an order of disciples, dedicated to building cities, building constructs, and keeping the secret of their creation out of unworthy hands. Agamine learned a valuable lesson from the Gods: that to do nothing and avoid doing evil is of higher moral worth than doing good but risking harm. It was not just the Gods, but Agamine's experiences that drilled in this lesson- safety over all, and that even the greatest of gifts can be a cruelty. Upon their death, Agamine ascended to the Lunar Pantheon.   Agamine proceeded to try and teach other members of the Pantheon this lesson, and the values of patience and restraint. Never the most charismatic of people, Agamine has been dubbed "The Toad"- short (from malnutrition), squat, makes a lot of noise, does nothing. The rhetoric has cooled somewhat now that Agamine has retreated from the Pantheon entirely, but the relationships are not good.
