Paradise

This is the afterlife of Halcyon, to which all Dryads, Prisms, Solars, and hybrids are given free access. Other species are allowed to ascend here, if invited by a resident (and some residents such as Agamine the Lost, make it their life mission to invite as many outsiders from less-pleasant afterlives as possible).   The ghosts of the dead wander idyllic natural landscapes forever here, incapable of violence and never under any stress or having any needs. The best food one could want can be conjured here, and discomfort is but a distant memory. The most uncomfortable thing isn't the landscape- which couldn't hurt or inconvenience you if it wanted to- but the inhabitants. While many here are enjoying their stay partying or resting, the older residents are burnt-out shades of people. Braindead from thousands of years of the same harmless landscape and shambling through the fields like zombies or simply entering comas that they never emerge from, the oldest of the dead here can be disquieting for new arrivals. Other souls tend to avoid the older areas to avoid these haunting apparitions, known as the 'Old Souls'.   The spaceless geography would be easy to get lost in if it wasn't for the ten lunar realms- the great regions of paradise carved out in devotion to the ten lunar gods and their most devout followers. Raised above the rest of paradise, these massive columns of spirit and stone always seem visible no matter how far you go (there is no curvature here and perfect crystal-clear air).   The paradise of Halcyon was not always here, and some say that is is but a pleasant holding area for whatever lies beyond- be it oblivion or something else. Those more worshipful of the Lunar Pantheon often see Paradise as eternal and perfect; those who distrust them often see it as artificial and temporary. For all mortal intents and purposes though, it is staggeringly ancient and perhaps the best chance at post-life happiness available for souls in the next thousand years.

Geography

The geography of the majority of paradise is indescribable- there are softened versions of most any environment, lightly warped by the desires of the many souls who wander here. All of these dance together sharply in a way that can be disorienting to newcomers.   Rising above the ephemeral lands of paradise are the ten great lunar realms:
  • The Hall of the Valiant, realm of Jade. This land of sport, hedonism, and glory seeks to keep spirits excited and alive for as long as possible for joining Jade's Sleeping Retinue (souls bound to her like a living supercomputer)
  • The Illumination, realm of Hiku. This is a massive temple to Hiku, covered in the finest (often mindbreaking) art of the greatest artists to ever die. The dancing here is and endless euphoria of magically-induced excitement, worship, adoration, and pleasure, as the seething masses of near-liquid soul become Hiku's personal serotonin supply.
  • The Dusklands, realm of Ishkibal. This land is a tranquil garden of peace and safety, where Desmian and Ishkibite warriors can rest peacefully and pleasantly. Those who consent rise as ancestor-stars, who dot the sky with light (also as living supercomputers)
  • The Wargarden, realm of Lily of Red. A paradise-garden of glory and revelry, the wargardens are 33% soul-supercomputer, 33% war-council, 34% party.
  • The Realms Ascendant, realm of Emesh. This is a labyrinthine library tended by Emesh's most loyal, with near endless doors to tiny microcosm-heavens containing the expected afterlives of dozens of cultures. This is where Emesh seeks to fulfill his promises of cultural subjectivity and keep records of all the world's happenings.
  • The Risen Kingdom, realm of Theia the Liberator. An exaggerated idyllic version of Theia's home-kingdom risen from the sea, the risen kingdom is very similar to the wargarden in content.
  • The Rainbow Gardens, realm of Wimbo. This is somewhere between an endless party, a museum, and a crypt. At the top is Wimbo's hall of revelry, where heroes of old dine and sing and un-live their best un-lives. Below is the hall of heroes, dedicated to wimbo's favorite mortals. Below that is the hall of slumber, where wimbo stores the comatose old-souls who lose their minds here- so that they can sleep in peace together until Halcyon gets back.
  • The Tower of Perfection, realm of Orchid of Blue. Intended as a model society, archive, and war-council, Orchid keeps the souls of the dead occupied with the work of managing material information. Often working with Emesh's library, Orchid does also have one of those nifty soul supercomputers.
  • The Utopia, abandoned realm of Agamine the Lost. Once it was intended as Agamine's perfect self-sustaining utopian city, but it was never completed. It lies abandoned and broken, inhabited by those who seek to hide from the rest of Paradise.
These realms may seem inaccessible, but are actually quite easy to enter from below. Haru does not have a realm, as he spends all of his free time in the physical realm.
