Lunar God
There are ten Lunar Gods, who are ancient ascended mortals hand-picked by The Architects to watch over and protect the world. The Lunar Gods are (mostly) all long-dead ghosts, incapable of smiting their enemies or performing miracles. The only exception to this is Haru, who retains their ageless physical body but is still more of a super-powerful mortal than an all-powerful God. Given their lack of direct power and their mortal origins, some mortal religions and cultures call the Lunar Gods Lunar Spirits instead.
The Lunar Gods are known as The Lunar Pantheon.
A Lunar God is able to do a handful of things to influence the mortal world:
- they can quickly absorb all knowledge about a person's life
- they can speak and conjure illusions to those who perform the Divine Contact ritual
- they can visit people's dreams to give them brief bits of knowledge
- they can grand Paladin powers to those who swear oaths to them
- they can judge the actions of paladins who are sworn to them, revoking their powers if they feel the oath was broken
- they can send brief (often vague) flashes of emotion to their paladins to help guide them
- they can ensure that a soul goes to Paradise when the mortal dies
- Haru is the forgiving, inquisitive, and sensitive God/Goddess of healing, second chances, exploration, and learning. Patron of the Gentle. Sun aesthetic. Once a priest.
- Hiku the Muse is the secretive and powerful Goddess of Inspiration, Magic, the Arts, and Oddities. Patron of "Interesting People". Music aesthetic. Once a bard.
- Wimbo is the loud and optimistic God of heroism, bravery, individualism, and fame. Patron of self-described heroes. Wind aesthetic. Once a "chosen one" warrior.
- Jade is the regal and aloof Goddess of law, order, honor, and conservatism. Patron of enforcers. Palace aesthetic. Big into social order and fixated on the past. Once an empress.
- Emesh, is the curious shapeshifting God of knowledge, scholarship, memory, change, and cultural difference. Patron of observers and tricksters. Library aesthetic or adopts a local cultural aesthetic (likes to pretend to be a local god or spirit). Big into moral relativism. Once an explorer.
- Ishkibal is the suspicious and stern God of war, struggle, redemption-through-struggle, purification, strategy, and conquest. Patron of hunters, warriors, and conquerors. Black and white goth aesthetic. Once a warlord.
- Lily of Red is the confident and commanding Goddess of war, nature, kings, priests, divine magic, and the militant fight for "truth". Patron of druids, warriors, and kings. Garden aesthetic. Once a prophet and warlord.
- Theia the Liberator is the righteous and assertive Goddess of freedom, rebellion, revolution, escape, and the downtrodden. Patron of peasant rebels, assassins, and warriors who would protect the weak. Once a slave who led a great rebellion. Aquatic aesthetic.
- Orchid of Blue is the kindly and smug Goddess of 'Progress', bureaucracy, law, technology, knowledge, and commerce. Patron of 'Progress' in all forms. Once a scholar-empress. Very into reformism and gentle change. Heavenly urban aesthetic.
- Agamine the Lost is the meek and sad God of engineering, mathematics, practical skills, creation, and technology. Agamine now embraces a moral code that is against any form of action that could cause harm to someone, so he generally avoids influencing the world even if peoples ask him to. Some think he has vanished entirely, given his near-total silence.
