The Mockingbird Shadow

The Mockingbird was a Shade encountered in Castle Street Square of The Deephaunt. Physically it appeared quite different to other Shades, with a more distinct, elongated face, large black wings in place of arms and feather-like detailing across its body.

Abilities

The Mockingbird demonstrated some particularly unusual abilities for a Shade:

• The Mockingbird demonstrated the ability to mimic human speech, starting by copying Lady Ophelia Foxworth-Hayford's singing and then moving to speech as well.

• As their interactions continued, The Mockingbird's mimicry became less delayed, eventually moving to being able to predict what Ophelia would say or sing before she said it.

• Finally, The Mockingbird became able to take control of the conversation, saying things which Ophelia was then forced to repeat. The Mockingbird was killed by ser Anron Wren before this ability could progress any further.

Weaknesses

It is unclear if The Mockingbird had any weaknesses, apart from possibly that the use of its mimicry ability required it to concentrate solely on its target, leaving it vulnerable to attack from others.

Origin

It is unclear what the origin of The Mockingbird was. It was encountered in the ruins of Castle Street Square just inside of the outermost gates on the Western side of The Deephaunt.
