House Maeson had strong ties with Quarrystone , frequently visiting the territory to learn the latest developments in mining to bring back to their own holdings. During one such trip the heir of Quarrystone, a known rake, fathered a pair of bastards on the heir of House Maeson, who would go on to have families involved in the mining trade. Due to the obscurity and age of the paperwork involved, following the extinction of House Maeson in 205KS descendants of both families have some claim to the Maeson lands.
By 452KS the only living members of those families were Erik Stone and Zane Gavel , who were brought to Southbay to be inducted into ser Allon Stormborn's Band of Heritor Knights and accompany his Caravan to High Hill .
