Player Characters and the Timeskip

Mechanical Effects

Obviously, the first effect of The Timeskip is that the Player Characters will age ten years.
Attributes
Previously, it has not been possible to increase attributes. However a decade is plenty of time for a character to experience growth. So a Player Character gains two points to spend on increasing their Attributes:
  • It costs two points to increase a 1 to a 2.
  • It costs one point to increase a 2 to a 3 or a 3 to a 4.
  • It costs two points to increase a 4 to a 5.
Note that this attribute change represents a concerted effort over a decade to train their capabilities, and should be reflected narratively.
Aging
Some characters will be passing significant thresholds in their life that will alter their capabilities. These changes are based on age and the Attribute changes chosen above.
  • A character who is leaving their teens increases their Brawn by 1, to a maximum of 4. Then they decrease either their Intellect or Willpower by 1 to a minimum of 2. They cannot decrease an Attribute that was increased at the previous step.
  • A character who is entering their forties lowers either their Brawn or Agility by 1, to a minimum of 2. Then, if they increased their Intellect or Cunning in the previous step, they increase the other to a maximum of 4. Then, if they increased their Presence or Willpower in the previous step, they increase the other to a maximum of 4.
  • A character who is entering their fifties lowers either their Brawn or Agility by 1, to a minimum of 1. Then, if they increased their Intellect or Cunning in the previous step, they increase the other to a maximum of 5. Then, if they increased their Presence or Willpower in the previous step, they increase the other to a maximum of 5.

Skills
A character gains a number of Skill Points to distribute equal to the sum of their Brawn, Agility, Cunning and Intellect.
  • It costs one Skill Point to add a new Skill or Knowledge Skill
  • It costs one Skill Point to improve an existing Skill by one rank to a maximum of 4 a maximum of once per skill.
  • It costs two Skill Points to improve an existing Skill by a second rank or to a maximum of 5 or to improve a newly added Skill.

Connections
A character gains a number of new Connections equal to the sum of their Presence and Willpower.
