One of the Senators of the Colbreak ancestral lands, Senator Alderley is a significant advisor to Duncan Colbreak Whitewave, the Duke of Colbreak. She is considered brilliant and calculating by all who know her.
I do not claim to know Lady Clarisse particularly well--my relationship is primarily through Uncle Duncan, though I will also become part of her clan when I marry Prince Victor. Thus this article will focus on the facts of her familial connections and her great influence in Crathlian politics.
Personal History
Family
Lady Clarisse Alderley was born into the Alderley Clan to Prince Alden Alderley and Senator Edwina Windweaver. Her brother Albert was born the next year. She met Edmund Whitewave Feyrock at Everdon Academy and married him aged 18. Their son Comgan was born in 1291 during the Great War, which they spent in the royal bunker. Their daughter Alva was born in 1295, just after the war's end. After her son Comgan's marriage to Noreen Nymphaea Evenbrook in 1310, Lady Clarisse became a grandmother to Beatrice Alderley Evenbrook in the summer of 1311. Her daughter Alva married Brian Lightrock Alderley in 1313, just after their graduation from Everdon. They do not yet have children.Education
Lady Clarisse was educated at Everdon Academy. She had a penchant for chess and other strategy games. Her teachers say she excelled in all of her classes, particularly political manuevering.Senate Career
Lady Clarisse was elected by the Class 3 Paragon populance in 1292 after the death of her husband's grandmother vacated her seat in the Senate. Senator Alderley quickly rose to power in the Senate, leading the way in policymaking. Furthermore, after Duncan Colbreak became Duke of Colbreak, she leveraged her friendship with his wife Lillian Whitewave to become the Duke's primary advisor. She is currently one of the most influencial Senators, as well as having great power over the duchy of Colbreak, particularly Lexport, Crathlia's largest city. She is responsible for the 1310 weapons ban on Amalgams in Lexport as well as the curfew, which has been in effect since the beginning of the Second Notian War two years ago.Social
Wealth and Household
Crathlian Senators are paid well, as they set their own salaries, and Senator Alderley is set to inherit the County of Dubward after her father's death, along with its fortune, leveraged through property taxes in High Valley. She is thus quite wealthy. Faerie Hall is her husband's family home, full of flourishing gardens both inside and outside all times of the year. It features a myriad of windows and skylights, many of them in stained glass.Contacts and Relations
Senator Alderley often leverages her Everdon connections for their mutual benefit. Her close friends in school included her cousin Queen Alexandra Alderley, Lillian Whitewave, and Isabelle Greengale, who married Albert, Senator Alderley's brother.Family Ties
As the grandaughter of Queen Helene Alderley Colemors, Lady Clarisse is a member of the Alderley Clan. She is particularly close to Queen Alexandra Alderley, her second cousin, who was in her year at Everdon Academy. It is also said that she arranged her brother Albert's marriage to another Everdon friend of hers, Isabelle Greengale, for their mutual benefit and to strengthen hers and Isabelle's ties. Her mother, Edwina Windweaver, is also a Senator, and is considered less influencial than Lady Clarisse. Many believe that this is a point of tension in their relationship. Her marriage into the Feyrock clan created an alliance that included Lord Edmund's three brothers, one of whom is a national prosecuter. She currently lives with her in-laws, who have said that they consider her the daughter they never had.Relationships
