Cassius Rosmors Blackburn

General Cassius (né Imbrus) Rosmors Blackburn

We must push forward, in the face of an enemy far greater, far deeper, far wider, than we can imagine. That enemy is not any serpent, for they can be defeated with our hands alone. That enemy is despair. We must fight, each day, each hour, each moment, against our own lying minds. For once the enemy in our heads wins, we have lost every war.
— General Rosmors, Speech to the Second Army, 1294
General Rosmors rose as an important military figure during the Great War and remains one of the chief leaders of the Crathlian army. He was the Dissipators' commander, and is usually credited with their success, though this is not entirely fair to the Dissipators themselves. He is now the patriarch of the powerful non-governing Rosmors Clan, influencing tomorrow's Paragon rulers.

Personal History

Family

Lord Cassius Rosmors was born into the Rosmors clan to Cassia Imbra and William Rosmors. His high power level attracted many powerful women, and many thought he would marry then-princess Queen Isabelle Colemors Alderley, until Charles Weatherby Colbreak was found to outscore him.   Ultimately, Viviana Blackburn Rosmors won his hand, and they married at age 22. Together they had three children: Cassius Blackburn Rosmors, Olivia Blackburn Rosmors, and Portia Blackburn Rosmors.   He now has five grandchildren. By his son Cassius: Dairine Rosmors Waterguard (future princess and heir to the Waterguard estate) and Cassius Rosmors Waterguard. By his daughter Olivia: Sophia Stelworth Rosmors. By his daughter Portia: Aveline Rosmors Lightrock and George Rosmors Lightrock.

Education

General Rosmors was educated at Everdon Academy. He then attended Officer Training at Fort Wavebreak, graduating in 1273 aged 22.

Military Career

Considered a brilliant tactician, Lord Rosmors rose through the Crathlian army ranks. Promoted to general in 1291 after his superior's death, he commanded the Second Army deployed in Shui Lu until the Great War's end. He personally gave the Dissipators their orders and is usually considered the one responsible for their success. The truth is that Vincent Harper Bowman was the one calling the shots on the ground, though, to General Rosmors's credit, he eventually had enough foresight to allow them free reign over their decisions, freedom to do what they did best--killing serpents. He worked with them, especially Bowman, and allowed them to accomplish more than they would have under any other general; most Paragon generals would have pushed back against the Amalgam trying to make decisions.   Upon the declaration of war against the Republic of Notia in 1313, General Rosmors became commander of Crathlia's forces in Notia and retains this position to the present day.

Achivements

General Rosmors's work during the Great War is considered his best, and has given him a solid place in the history books. Though he did not command the Dissipators to the degree that is generally believed, his own accomplishments with the rest of the Second Army are often forgotten. He is credited with the Second Army's victory in the Barrier Mountains, which ultimately drove the naered back and ended the Great War.

Failures

During the Great War, his failure in the 1292 march on Shui Lu's capital was considered a waste of resources and lives. His reputation during that time was partially held up by the Dissipators' success, but he was very nearly demoted.

Social

Wealth and Household

Considering that his wife is the headmistress of the most prestigious school in the country and he himself is a general, I think it can be safely assumed that he is rather wealthy, but not compared to some of our nobility. Elegantly decorated, Rosmors Hall is a mansion of somewhat larger than average size for High Valley, and it is often the location of balls and celebrations due to its lovely ballroom. The entryway features a complicated fountain, with waterfalls flowing backwards into nowhere and rainbows visible throughout the day, that rivals the Waterguard manor in lavishness.

Contacts and Relations

General Rosmors is well-connected in Paragon society primarily through his wife. In the military, he is well-known and highly respected as a commander.   It is difficult to know whether it was General Rosmors or Headmistress Blackburn who arranged their granddaughter's marriage to Prince Felix Whitewave Alderley; likely they were both involved. The king has told me that they did not give their son's hand away lightly.

Family Ties

Considered a patriarch of the Rosmors clan, General Rosmors's opinion is highly valued, and many of his younger cousins go to him and his wife for advice, especially on the marriages of their children.
