Inikóans
Inikóic: Inikóha /ɪːnɪkhouːhaː/
Kafalic: Jiphák /jɪphhauːkh/
The inikóans1 are one of the seven tribes of Tederans that make up the Ptivamanaktem Alliance in central Karatvánamb Forest in southeastern Túlmikkía. Their territory located to the south along the lower Útimte River and the area north of it, centered around the city of Norer. It borders that of the Kafalans upriver to the southwest, their ancient rivals and members of the Fúmrá Alliance, whom the inikóans often fought back when both tribes were independent.
Although sedentary and a major producer of túlmikkían rice, hunting has long been an important part of inikóan culture, more so than any other tederans in the alliance, and the nearby land set aside for wild game is carefully maintained to attract and support as many animals as possible, particularly white-breasted guineafowl, waterbucks and bushpigs. Despite this, the growing population and demand for wild game means that overhunting is slowly but steadily becoming an issue in the region.
Because of this, inikóans have recently begun to employ Abáhans from the southwestern part of the Ptivamanaktem to tend for their domesticated eland antelopes and prairie hens in exchange for rice and banana beer, as the latter are much more knowledgeable on raising livestock than the former.
Inikóans are renown for their shamans, whose knowledge of medicine, divination, hymns, chants and mythology is unsurpassed.
