Kahans

The kahans1 are one of the seven tribes of Tederans that make up the Ptivamanaktem Alliance in central Karatvánamb Forest in southeastern Túlmikkía. Their territory is centered around the city of Akirimt by the lower Hafamb River, not far from Mnetembá Falls.
They are major producers of sassafras and bananas in the region, and their ceremonial masks are considered some of the finest among the tederans.

Religion

Dancing is an important part of kahan culture and features heavily in both rituals and other festivities, with the most important dances occurring in a large clearing above Mnetembá Falls. During those events, all in the village or -in Akirimt- neighbourhood must cease working and attend the ceremony, or else pay a fine in form of certain goods depending on the reason for their absence.
Sacred groves and other small patches of land are found throughout kahan territory, identified by female shamans as the forest is cleared for new fields, pastures and buildings, where none may tread as they are the abodes of spirits. Because of this, their settlements and fields are planned more haphazardly than elsewhere within Ptivamanaktem.
