History

The Turlagh Empire formed on 23, Tarsakh, 1498 DR between the drow led by Djedfre, kobolds and orcs led by Illim, Lizardfolk near Starmantle led by Allord and the High Elf Duke of Assam, Vallmere Zolle, in an attempt to take lands from the Republic of Turmish on the Dragon Coast. These four rulers formed a Coalition at a small Fort between Ormath and Assam called Fort Tor. Thus, the Coalition of the Tor was formed with Djedfre at its helm to claim lands they believed to be theirs and the War of the Wetwoods began. By the year, 1515, the free cities of Westgate, Starmantle and Tezir were conquered and Assam was taken from the Turmish who were acting as their protectorate witht the Republic of Turmish being driven back to Hondleth. The War officially ended with the treaty of Surkh which resulted in the official formation of the Turlagh Empire.   Peace however, would not last long. Djedfre and his new empire desired more. They turned their eyes to Elversult and Ilipur, free cities and villages on the Trader's Road and the Dragon's Coast. The War of Dragon Coast officially started with the two cities allying and gaining volunteers from Cormyr. With the financial aid and volunteers from Corymr, the alliance initially pushed back the new empire to the gates of Tezir. However, Illim had been working on gaining the aid of the last Storm Giants in the Giant Run Mountain promising them the land of Lheshayl and a place to rebuild. With the Pact of Lightning Anvil signed, the Storm Giants quickly turned the battle up North with the empire coming out victorious in 3 years time on the 11th of Uktar, 1521. Pros would soon be given up as a protectorate of Cormyr to the empire in an attempt to keep the peace.   The Empire continued this victory quickly turning the mustered force to Lheshayl where the humans led by Chief Mer-Kaothuz were quickly overwhelmed leading to the establishment of Lheshayl as the home of the giants in the empire with the Skirmish of Lleshayl ending in a one sided bloodbath. However, the consequences for the growing empire never seemed to come as more fortune shown upon them. In the year 1523, despite the lack of military force in the empire, the Bandit King Vorni Dhoda of Priapurl joined the empire as a willing vassal in return for the eventual conquering of Easting. His wish however, would fail to be granted by Djedfre as his attention was turned to the South by the allure of the wealth of Amn and the City of Espurta hoping to get access to the Sword Coast.   What would become known as the Time of Boiling Sands however the war never occured. In the year 1528 on the 3rd of Hammer, Emperor Djedfre was killed in a coup by his led by his High General Alara Morael and many of the other commanders including Atticus Omnath and Heleleth Faedove and a regiment from Priapurl come to be known as the Dagger of Black blood as the dagger said to have killed him is stained with black blood. With the Emperor's death, Alara Morael took control of the Empire and moved the troops preparing for a war with Amn to Easting. In a bloodless Siege, the Treaty of Easting was signed by the 19 of Elient between Alara and Earl Thekerrahr Quickbrand.   Alara herself was officially coronated on the 21 of Nightal at Dusk in the Year 1528 which is now known as the Year of Black Blood in the Empire. With her coronation came the Immediate centralization of the Government. Atticus Omnath was declared Archduke of Westgate, with the Witch Qilue Miadi becoming his vassal as the leader of Tezir. Illim was declared Vizier of the Empire with Allord becoming a direct vassal of the new Empress in Nathlek. By the end of the next year a hierarchy of the empire was established. However, before an heir could be determined for the virgin Empress an attack on her life by the Earl of Assam, Vallemere Zolle was uncovered by her spymaster Vass Edi. Attempting to keep the peace, Vallemere was exiled from the empire never to return. A magocracy was soon installed as the next form of heir for the empire.   With internal pressure building on the new Empress, with an increasingly growing group desiring war and military, the empress struggled to gain a foothold as she stood for peace negotiating trade deals with Sembia and Amn. She turned her attention to the youth and lack of education hoping to ensure that the future would be more peaceful. She formed the Twilight scholars and the Arcane Colleges of Magic, meant to increase general and magical education in the empire.
