Starmantle

Demographics

Mix of Humans, Lizardfolk, Orcs, Half-Ogres, Drow, Gnolls, Bugbears

Government

Run in a very tribal sense. This city is ruled by Allord who many call their chief. Tributes are paid to him. However, for survival most are on their own. All criminals are brought to the chief for judgement. Anyone in the city can challenge the chief in single combat but he determines the rules of the engagement.

Industry & Trade

Mostly hunters and traders, the people of Starmantle are infamous for getting some harder to get spell components or potion components from the Gulthmere forest.

Infrastructure

No real infrastructure besides the wooden shacks and buildings. It does have a well established port that provides constant trade.

Assets

A large mythical forest and a place of extreme magical potential. It is often studied as residuals of the spellplague still last.

Guilds and Factions

The Hunters of Gulthmere- The mercenary group whom are responsible and often work for the empire. They control the economic prosperity of the city.

History

After the destruction of the city by the Spellplague in 1385 DR. The city remained a ruinous mess of ghouls and masses of obsidian in humanoid shapes running. In the year 1460 DR, the humans from Thesk made their way to reclaim the city. They moved most of the obsidian structures to a centralized area and started to rebuild the place. However, the humans drove the ghouls into the Lizardfolk territory in the Gulthermere territory and to the underdark entrance nearby. The ghouls would plague these groups for years before a red lizardfolk named Allord gifted with power from Sessinek drove the ghouls to eternal rest. With this, he gained a following and soon became chief of the lizardfolks. Making his way around, soon the city was conquered by the Lizardfolk with the help of the drow, some half ogres and gnolls.  By the end of the 15th century, Allord and Starmantle reestablished themselves as a trading power and a major player in the Coalition of the Tor. Monsterous races including a few minotaurs have made their way to starmantle. It is viewed as the most friendly city to the most obscure races.

Tourism

The Throne of Kings

The local throne is in the ruins of obsidian figures. It is said people can still hear the screams of those who perished. This is where Allord rules from. The brazers of this stone building never stop burning a sign of the undead being conquered.

The Ghoul Zone

A marked area of destroyed rubble in the old ruins of the city. This part is still affected by the spell plague resulting in unpredictable magic. Some say it could be in theory a fragmented part of the void. Others have theories on its unpredictability.

The Port

Less traditional than the large sailing ships. Mostly small agile ships are required to enter the port and the reefs just off the coast. However, it is a beautiful site with the coral on the edge. Some say the coral has magical properties and grants various boons based on the colors.

Hall of the Hunters

The location of the Hunters of Gulthmere, they are experts in spell components and where to find them. If you are looking for obscure places, this place filled with relics in glass cases from spider eyes, to dragon claws to ghoul essence can freak some people out.

Shaded Grove

A religious place that is kept in constant darkness. A tree that many druids seek lives here. It is said to provide unseen knowledge through broken speech. Most just find it interesting for a tree growing in the dark.
