Nyx - Mother Night
Nyx is the Goddess of Night. She is a gentle and nurturing deity, the embodiment of the very substance of night.
Nyx is the primary consort of the God Erebus, she is strongly associated with motherhood due to the many children she has, most of whom work in service to the Underworld.
Nyx is also the Twin of the God Hyperion, her polar opposite, who she has a tempestuous relationship with.
Despite Nyx’s connection to the Underworld there is no fear around invoking Nyx or drawing her attention, but some people still avoid using Nyx’s name, using epithets like “Mother Night”.
Nyx is only worshipped by specific cults, and commonly alongside her daughter Selene as they share similar domains.
Domains: Constellations, Moons, Night and Stars.
Symbols: A Starry Shroud, Horned Owls and Moths.
A religious day for the God of Night. Sometimes called the Day of the Long Night, the day is almost exclusively celebrated by the followers of Nyx.
Apperance
Nyx is exclusively depicted as feminine, commonly a middle aged figure with pale silvery skin and long black, free flowing hair. She is usually depicted adored in silver jewellery and wearing a black or dark purple shroud that is slightly translucent and filled with shining speckles of stars. This translucent and stary design is sometimes replicated in her hair or even entire body. Nyx is also sometimes depicted as a veil of dark mists drawn across the sky to obscure the light, her body the very substance of night.Holidays
