Accian Military Training Program

The Kingdom of Accia has its eyes set upon uniting all of Emynea under their rule. Because of this, most of a citizen of Accia's life is centered around their eventual military service and their accomplishments during that service. One of the primary reasons why the Accian Military is so effective and the kingdom has been so successful in their conquest is due to this training program. The program was designed and refined over more than two centuries by the kingdom's scholars, hired by the crown.

This is a massive operation and hires an incredible amount of staff to fully develop their citizens into highly trained soldiers. While only required to serve for four years, most Accians tend to serve far longer since there are multiple benefits available to those with an impressive military career. Anyone from any background has these opportunities. They all have equal access to the same training within this program as well though staff do naturally favor nobility and royalty more despite their claims of equity. And of course, nobility and the wealthy can afford the best tutors and training for their children. Whatever one's background, every recruit will spend two years in the program.

The program itself is fairly dynamic. New recruits are assessed a week before the Procession arrives. Administrators develop an individual training schedule for each recruit based on their results and racial magic, placing them into units. They generally train to fight alongside their unit-mates.

Structure

In order to keep this program functioning, a number of infrastructures and large amounts of staff are required. Most staff are retired from being professional soldiers (those who stay on past the required service) or scholars of some kind. There are three groups of staff. There are those that travel with the procession, which consists of instructors, administrators, security and some general staff. There are those who maintain the compounds and prepare them for their two weeks of annual use. Finally, there are the staff who keep tabs on citizens nearing recruitment age, ensuring/enforcing their recruitment when the time comes, assess new recruits and help them along their journey to the compound. These are Procession Staff, Compound staff and Recruitment staff.

Public Agenda

The program itself is mobile, hence it being referred to as the Procession. They travel from compound to compound constructed throughout the kingdom's territories. The rest of their time is spent travelling from location to location. This serves a number of purposes. It allows the processions to pick up recruits from around the kingdom as they travel rather than expecting recruits to travel to one location or to transport them themselves. The recruits gather to their local compound and are assimilated into the program during the two week period. This also prepares the recruits to travel and survive in a multitude of biomes, resulting in a highly adaptable and mobile military. Travelling from location to location also keeps the procession from becoming too much of a drain on local resources over time.

Finally, the mobility of the Procession allows all citizens to "see the wonders of the kingdom" in order to instill admiration, nationalism, etc. for the kingdom. It also uproots recruits from their home, culture, outside influence, and allows the kingdom more influence over the next generation as their kingdom expands. They want to take every citizen of every territory, especially the new ones, and show them how amazing, beautiful, cultural and diverse the kingdom is, to pluck them from their own national identity and try to suck them in to "something bigger", to assimilate them into the kingdom. They also use this as an example of how the kingdom grants opportunities to all citizens equally and perhaps inspire them to achieve more within the beautiful, magical lands of Emynea.

Laws

Certain recruit behaviors and actions are not tolerated, punishment and enforcement performed by Security Staff. These include:

  • Unsanctioned fights
  • Sexual encounters
  • Pregnancy
  • Insubordination
  • Desertion

Recruits are also expected to respect local laws of the lands they travel through and while they are aloud to leave the compound during their down time, they must receive an imprint (a magic means of tracking). If they are still outside the compound during one of their courses, they will be tracked using said imprint and face consequences.

Consequences can range from lost credits, service as general staff, extra exercises, confinement, physical discipline or, in the most extreme circumstances, even execution.

Infrastructure

While they will establish campsites as they travel, the Procession journeys from compound to compound throughout the year. The are standardized, military bases based heavily on architecture of the Canyon Complex. They can differ by location but generally include staff and recruit lodging zones, bath houses (male and female), a common area, mess hall, commissary, school, library, offices, obstacle courses, sparring grounds, archery range, track, stables, pasture and amphitheater. It isn't uncommon for military groups to use these compounds when it is left unoccupied either, given their various facilities.
