Valcin Ziprul
Valcin Ziprul (a.k.a. Val)
Hey everyone! I’m Valcin Ziprul—adventurer, sorcerer, and lover of all things delicious and fun. It’s a real pleasure to meet you all. I’m here to help however I can—whether that means taking down monsters, dealing with bandits, or just sharing a good game and a great meal. I’ve got some serious magic at my fingertips and a blade that’s just as sharp. So if you’ve got something exciting, dangerous, or just plain tasty to share, count me in. I’m ready for whatever the world throws my way.
Physical Description
Body Features
I'm six feet tall with dark brown spiky hair and grey eyes. I have a decent build with wide shoulders and a white skin tone that carries a reddish undertone throughout. One unique thing about me—I naturally tend to walk on my toes.
Special abilities
I'm a sorcerer with a large reservoir of magic, primarily focused on water and fire. I can conjure and manipulate both elements to create both defensive and offensive techniques. I've also learned to enhance my mobility with them—using water to slide quickly across the ground or fire to propel myself forward. Over time, I’ve developed various creative ways to wield these elements, blending power and flexibility in combat.
My powers aren’t just useful in combat—they come in handy for everyday stuff too. Fire magic is great for starting campfires, cooking, or even burning those less-than-stellar grade reports (not that I’d ever do that). Water magic helps me cool people off, clean up after fiery messes, or just freshen things up. I can sense the elemental and magical nature of objects and people—like what kind of magic an item holds or even what element someone is attuned to. Mom isn’t a fan of that ability, especially since it kinda spoils surprises... like when I can tell what kind of magical gift she got me just by being near it.

Personal history
So, you want to learn a little about me? Not a problem!
I’ve have moved around quite a bit in my life, traveling across different kingdoms and regions. The longest place I’ve ever stayed is here in the Kingdom of Harmony, in the city of Redfern Hollow. I've been living here for the past four years, which is a big deal for me—most other places I stayed only lasted a few months to a year.
I consider myself pretty lucky, though. A lot of the cities I’ve visited have been coastal, and I love the beach. One of the most fascinating things I’ve ever seen is the Nyxidra—a powerful, magical sea beast you can actually ride. And yes, you can see one right here in Redfern Hollow. Wild, right?
During my travels, I’ve picked up all sorts of games from different people and places. My current favorites are ones where you play as a planewalker, jumping between worlds in the metaverse. I also enjoy chess, though I’ll admit... I’m not very good at it. My friends always laugh because I can hold my own in a fight, but I get tunnel vision when it comes to strategy on a board.
I started cooking when I was about ten, mostly because I’d tasted so many incredible dishes that I couldn’t not try making them myself. Grilled food is definitely my specialty, but I’ve also fallen hard for pasta—so many styles, so much flavor. I love experimenting with new recipes and making my own up. And hey, having fire magic makes it super easy to get a flame going, while water magic is perfect for putting out accidents. Handy, right?
As for magic and combat—yeah, I’ve trained. A little here, a little there. I picked up swordplay and refined my elemental spells through both formal schooling and a lot of self-teaching. I think I’m doing alright! But I still have a lot to learn. That’s part of why I want to be an adventurer: I want to see the world, try more amazing food, and help people along the way.
Of course, to do that, I’ll need to get better at fighting monsters and dealing with villains. Hopefully I’ll meet some awesome people, make real friends, and maybe even form a legendary adventuring party of my own.

Spoiler for the story I writing
My younger years were spent traveling with my family, always moving from one kingdom to the next. I never questioned it too much—just figured we were explorers and love to live every ware. But things started to shift right around when I turned ten. By then, I was already practicing with swords and learning how to control my mana trying to master my fire and water powers.
I was out training when it happened.
A group of strangers appeared— in deep purple hoods, marked with three lavender eyes arranged in a triangle, the pupils shaped like silver stars. That image is burned into my memory. These people somehow got past my mother’s visions—her ability to see the future. That alone should’ve been impossible. Most divination casters see possibilities, not certainties. But my mom… her Sight was stronger than most. Clearer. Sharper. Yet they slipped past her, and they took us—me, my mother, my father, and my sisters.
They injected me with something. The next thing I remember, I woke up alone in a locked stone room with just a bed and a bucket. I panicked. I screamed. No one came. The door wouldn’t budge, and neither magic nor brute force worked. I suspected the stone was Jin Stone, a material known to resist both kinetic and magical energy.
I sat in silence, wondering if I’d ever see my family again trying to figure a way out.
That’s when I heard a voice—not from outside, but inside my head:
“Do you want to leave?”
Of course, I said yes. I begged to find my family. A moment later, a sound unlike anything I’d ever heard tore through the air—a roar, monstrous and painful. Then… silence. The door creaked open on its own.
The voice returned:
“Follow me, and we begin the next phase.”
I didn’t hesitate. I crept through the facility, guided by the voice, slipping past guards and empty corridors. Eventually, I reached a massive set of doors—a tiny mountain of carved stone. And within that colossus, a simple human-sized door.
Inside was a cavern. I lit a small flame to see better… and felt it before I saw it. Power. Presence. Breath. The flickering light grew, and then I saw it: A golden dragon, chained and bound, red eyes glowing in the dark. I froze. Terrified. I couldn’t move. That beast could devour me in a single bite. But then, it spoke—with the same voice that had guided me here.
“Well done, young one. Now, will you help me escape? I will help you save your family.”
His voice—calm, ancient, powerful—soothed me. I looked at the chains, then the glowing magic circle beneath him. They were using ancient wards to bind him.
“Promise me you’ll help free my family,” I said.
“I swear it,” he replied. “But to free me and save them, I must give you power. It will hurt.”
I agreed. I thought I could handle it. I wasn’t ready. I was thinking on the pain scale of a normal human not on the pain scale of dragon.
He carved a magical circle with a claw, just outside his own. I stepped in. Magic surged through me—wild and vast, far beyond anything I’d ever felt. It felt like my body was on fire, and my skull was about to crack open.. That when I felt blood—his blood—drip onto me as he chanted in a language I couldn’t understand. The pain shut up like a storm. Agony beyond reason. I could barely think.
“Focus on your family,” he whispered, “Stay awake.”
I clung to that thought. My family. Stay awake. My body twisted—scales forming on my arms and legs, claws growing, teeth sharpening. My senses exploded. I heard everything. Smelled magic in the air. Then—blackness.
When I woke, I was changed. My body had mutated—scales from my hands and feet up to my elbows and knees, claws, pointed ears, and burning red eyes. My magic was enhanced, and I could now see mana in the air itself. I used my newfound strength to shatter the dragon’s chains. As he explained how to disable the ward binding him, I heard a scream—my sister’s scream. Instinct took over.
I ran. The ground cracked beneath me from the sheer force of my speed and aura. A guard tried to stop me—I punched him, and Crimson flames burst from my fist, launching him across the hall. I tore through the doors with Crimson fire and water-enhanced strikes. I found my sisters, and in the next room, I saw a short, chubby man—maybe a dwarf or gnome—holding a blade to my father’s throat. He demanded to my mother to know which one of them held the All-Seeing Eyes. There was blood coming down my father neck. I don’t remember what happened next.
I only remember fire—and him screaming.
I was told I destroyed the entire facility. Freed the dragon. Saved my family.
But the power was too much. They had to seal it away, at least partially. It would have consumed me. Even so, it shortened my lifespan. I now carry a portion of the golden dragon’s might—and a connection to something ancient and dangerous.
I don’t regret it. I’d do it all again for them.

Education
Since I moved around a lot growing up, I ended up getting my basic education from so many schools that I honestly couldn’t name them all. Still, it was a pretty interesting experience—learning from all sorts of people and teachers. I’m glad I had the chance to meet so many different folks along the way.
Aside from the usual fundamentals of magic taught at those schools, my mother also taught me as much as she could. Her natural magic wasn’t tied to elements like fire or water—instead, she wielded Will magic. More specifically, she had the power of foresight, and she was really good at it. My dad, on the other hand, wasn’t great at controlling magic, but his strength came from Spirit magic and physical enhancement. So together, they taught me the best they could, though a lot of it I had to figure out on my own.
Luckily, I came across some helpful casters and mentors in other towns who were kind enough to share what they knew. They taught me in their own ways—some through lessons, others through practice—which helped a lot, especially since reading always put me to sleep. One thing everyone told me over and over, though, was to be extra careful. I produce a lot more mana than most people my age, so learning to control it properly was crucial.
As for sword training—that all started when I was around seven. I saw this amazing guy named Leon Stephan, a half-wood elf, half-human, teaching swordplay to his kids and a few other local kids. They were a mix of my age and older. I asked to join in, and to my surprise, they agreed. That’s also when I met Kite, Leon’s son. He and I became best friends.
Training with them was incredible, and I actually got to stay there longer than I ever had anywhere else—a whole year. Mr. Stephan told me I had a natural talent for the blade and was pretty dexterous. He suggested I keep training both arms since I was ambidextrous, and I’ve stuck with it ever since.

Accomplishments & Achievements
When I was 11, I made my own version of spaghetti—and it actually turned out really good. Everyone loved it! I added some BBQ sauce and extra seasonings, which gave it this rich, savory flavor. I was so proud (and honestly a little surprised), and it made me so happy that I started experimenting with all kinds of recipes after that. I had an absolute blast creating my own dishes and learning new ones along the way.
When I turned 16, I entered a sword-fighting tournament and ended up placing second! It was awesome. Luckily, the tournament allowed magical enhancements and trickery, so I used water magic to help me stay balanced and throw off my opponents—it made the whole thing even more fun.
The person who beat me was a woman named Rachel. She was an Ifrit and an incredible fighter. Her skill with a blade and the way she moved around the field was just on another level. I learned a lot from that fight, and truthfully, I couldn’t even be mad about the loss. Rachel actually became one of the people who helped me improve throughout next couple of years. I hope I get to meet her again someday—I'd love a rematch.

Failures & Embarrassments
When I was thirteen, I got into a fight with an older, tougher boy. I saw him picking on a few of my classmates and couldn’t just stand there. I stepped between him and my two friends and told him to leave them alone. He just laughed and said, “Oh yeah? What are you gonna do about it?”
He didn’t wait for an answer—he came at me with a stone-covered fist. I managed to throw up a water barrier just in time, but his punch still broke through and hit my arm hard, injuring it. His whole hand was covered in jagged stone and surrounded by a brownish aura that reached all the way to his elbow. Then he stepped forward and threatened to hit me in the face if I didn’t move.
Before I could react, my two sisters showed up out of nowhere and shoved him back a few inches, shouting, “Get away from our brother!” But he didn’t care—he lunged at them. I tried to slow him down with another water wall, but it wasn’t enough. He knocked them down, and I saw the scrapes and bruises as they hit the ground.
That’s when I snapped.
A powerful surge of energy exploded out of me. A reddish aura surrounded my body, and flames began to flicker out from it. I charged him and punched him in the chest, releasing a burst of fire that sent him flying and set his shirt on fire. I saw the burns across his chest, and I was ready to hit him again—but then I caught a glimpse of my classmates’ faces.
They were terrified. Of me.
That moment hit hard. I froze, took a breath, and managed to regain control of myself. I rushed to help my sisters up, and ran home.
Later, I found out that the boy had been hospitalized with second-degree burns. That’s when it really sank in—my powers are no joke. If I lose control, people get hurt. Fire magic is powerful, but it’s wild and dangerous, and I’ve already had too many close calls... including almost burning down parts of the forest a few times.
I’m honestly grateful I have water magic too. It helps me balance out the fire and keep myself grounded. I’ve learned that just because I can do something doesn’t mean I should. Control matters.

Intellectual Characteristics
I don’t think I can really measure my intelligence—standard tests never seem to work for me. My teachers have told me I think way outside the box and I tend to ask strange or unusual questions. I guess that’s true—I’m naturally curious and ask a lot of questions because I genuinely want to understand how things work. I know I’m clever, but it’s hard to pin down exactly where I fall on the intelligence scale. What I do know is that I try my best to learn as much as I can about everything around me.
Personality Characteristics
Motivation
My biggest motivation for becoming an adventurer is to meet and help as many people as I can. I love seeing people smile—it’s always been fun and fulfilling to lend a hand where I can. Plus, I get to travel the world, try all kinds of new foods, see unique places, and maybe even run into some cool (or dangerous) monsters along the way.
Spoiler for the story I writing
The second reason... well, that one’s a bit more personal. To find the group out there who did something unforgivable to my family and hurt that dragon. I know it’ll take time, but when I do find them, I’ll make sure they can’t hurt anyone else ever again.
Likes & Dislikes
I can cook pretty well—I've picked up a lot of techniques from other people and travelers over the years, and I hope to keep learning more as I explore the world. When it comes to fighting, I’m skilled with both rapiers and longswords, whether one-handed or two-handed. I think I’m pretty good, if I say so myself, but there's always room to grow.
I also love playing games—any kind, really. From physical challenges to board games, I enjoy learning new ones and getting my brain working while having fun with others.
I enjoy a good view, but I’m not too fond of the idea of falling and hitting the ground. On top of that, I really can’t stand bullies or people who pick on others for no reason. I like putting them in their place—preferably in a way that shows them a better path but their are one that just keep coming back for more.

Virtues & Personality perks
I've been told I'm an optimist—I always try to look on the bright side, even if I'm preparing for the worst behind the scenes. I'm also naturally sarcastic, which people say can be both a virtue and a flaw. Honestly, it depends on who you ask. Let me know what you think... and then I’ll let you know if I’m giving up my throne or not.
Vices & Personality flaws
I always try to do things myself and have a hard time asking for help
Social
Family Ties
- My mother, Dawne Ziprul, has a very rare gift—the ability to see into the future—and what's even rarer is that she can control when and how she uses it. She's a wonderful and loving mom, but she can be way too overprotective. She tends to try and control everything to keep us safe, especially since she knows I didn’t inherit her ability at all.
- My father, Ryker Ziprul, is a master carpenter—seriously, the man can build anything. He’s strict, loves to debate just for the fun of it, and even though he’s not the best at showing affection, it’s clear he cares. His way of showing love is... complicated. We don’t always see eye to eye, especially because of how I view the world so differently. His only magical ability is physical enhancement, but honestly, that’s more than enough for the work he does.
- My younger sister, Nova Ziprul, is the middle child and inherited Mom’s gift of foresight. She’s really cool and super into games just like me. She’s the kind of person who always helps others but forgets to take care of herself, which worries me. She’s kind-hearted and selfless—maybe too much for her own good.
- My youngest sister, Stephanie Ziprul, didn’t inherit Mom’s gift, but she does have something strange and special. When she’s really upset, she seems to mimic the powers of people around her—though she can’t control it at all. I love her (and she loves me too), but she can be a total brat sometimes. She’s very self-centered on her bad days, but on her good ones, she surprises everyone by being incredibly helpful and kind.
Religious Views
I know that this universe was created and blessed by eight Gods and Goddesses. I don’t know much about the specifics, and honestly, I don’t always understand why they allow certain things to happen. Still, I’ve heard stories and bits of lore from friends and other people. From what I can tell, they seem to be trying to help and guide the world in their own way. So even if I’m not sure if worshipping them is for me, I respect what they’re trying to do for the world.
Mannerisms
I am Happy, logical, and sarcastic—what a great mix, right?”
Hobbies & Pets
I love playing all kinds of games and learning new ones. I'm also a big fan of cooking and trying different foods—so go ahead, show me what you’ve got!
