Spark
Sparks is a simple spell often the first learned by fire-aligned mages and lightning users alike, and one of the foundational spells taught to most wizards. While basic, it is far more useful than many young mages give it credit for.
Too often, apprentices think of Spark only as a way to light campfires or, worse, whatever foolish thing they intend to inhale that day. Used correctly, however, this spell can be an effective tool for distraction and survival. A small, well-placed flame can draw attention away from you or an area, buying precious moments to escape. In dire circumstances, igniting a hostile pursuer may slow them long enough for you to flee with your life intact.
That said, if the one pursuing you is a guard or another lawful authority, understand that you are not escaping justice you are merely adding more charges to your list of crimes.
So remember this, my young mages: fire is a tool, not a toy. Set flames with precision and wisdom, and always with the awareness that careless use may burn far more than you ever intendedpossibly the entire kingdom.
