Flare

Flare is one of your quickest escape and distraction spells. With it, you can conjure a sudden flash of fire or light that briefly daze a target area. Use it carefully blinding yourself or your allies is the last thing you want. All it takes is one moment of lost vision for a monster to gain the advantage and make a meal of you. When used correctly, this spell is excellent for breaking an enemy’s line of sight, giving you the chance to escape, reposition, strike first, or dodge an incoming attack. The sudden loss of vision can turn the flow of a fight in your favor if you are prepared to act.   I have also heard of certain young ladies using Flare to blind poorly timed admirers who wander where they should not. While effective, I still advise caution.   Be especially mindful of your companions who possess low-light or darkvision. The abrupt shift in brightness can be particularly irritating or even disorienting to them as well.   So remember this, my young mages: Flare is a tool of timing and awareness. Use wisdom and tactics when employing it, and always know who you are blinding before you unleash it.

This cantrip creates a burst of light. If you cause the light to burst in front of a single creature, that creature is dazzled for 1 minute unless it makes a successful Fortitude save. Sightless creatures, as well as creatures already dazzled, are not affected by flare.
