The Land of Water and Forests. Between the bustling metropolitan town of Paris, to the expertly crafted underwater capital of Helen, Creation has always been a persistent ethos in the heart of Atalanta. While they are not the arcanist prodigies in Laputa, Atalanta is home to some of the greatest artists, poets, sculptors, and mechanical engineers in Edda. Along with them are some of the greatest thieves, assassins, smugglers, illicit traders, and corrupt politicians, as the country is always in a brutal struggle between the meek law and order and the expansive chaos and corruption, occasionally literally.

History
When Edda first divided itself into The Triad, being Avalon, Agartha, and Hippolyta, Atalanta was part of the Agarthan territory. After years of debate and occasional war, the Five appeared, with the countries of Atalanta and Kaguya forming from the divide. After this, Magnum Opus came out of the Atalantan and Avalonian territories, and after the tumultuous border wars, Laputa freed itself from Atalanta's grasp as well.
Demography and Population
Atalanta does not have a stark majority. While in the past it was dominated by Tritons and Elves, the ages and multiple separations have made Atalanta a wildly varied country. Not to mention it being one of three safe havens for Beast Races during the Grand Expulsion, the other two being the lands that would become Boncly and Alicein. You can find just about any kind of person in the 1,285,000 or so citizens of Atalanta.
Military
The national forces of Atalanta are built with the idea of physical strength and endurance, along with battle tactics being a praised necessity even in the days of Barbarians and honor battles. Along with that, they possess a strong Navy force that patrols the outer rim of Edda's territory, and makes frequent expeditions to the Wild Magic Lands, although that's always a dreaded task.
Technological Level
If Magnum Opus is at the forefront of Magical advancement, and Laputa at the forefront of the Technological, Atalanta is at an even middle of both. Magical studies and technological advancements are seen in equal bounds throughout the country, giving it a unique edge of modern and classic, creating an interesting mix of the two kinds of powers.
Religion
The main religion in Atalanta is The Ascendants, a religion focused on a group of people who have done incredible feats to deserve godhood. There is at least one ascendant for everyone to align themselves with, be they a house spouse cleaning up their abode, or a criminal running for their life on one last job.
The head of this pantheon is known as 'The Giving One', who is stated to be the one who gives the godly power to those who are marked as The Ascendants.
Agriculture & Industry
Atalanta's rural territories are mostly used for farming, either for vegetation, livestock, or herbal gardens. Meanwhile, their Urban territories are based on trade and modern production, the most popular being De Chance Automotives and Steelworks, along with its rival Jackson Steelework. Trade & Transport
Atalanta trades objects through the traditional means, beasts of burden of various kinds, but also large automated vehicles and ships, due to the advent of mechanical works in the country, along with its large connection to water routes and roads.
Education
Atalanta does have a public school system for those of any age who require and or desire general education, but most of the educational systems are vocational training or apprenticeships, although a handful of Colleges for bardic arts, military tactics, and magic are found, mostly in the more Urban parts of the country.
Infrastructure
While it is common in the urban cities, the rural cities of Atalanta are currently undergoing retrofitting for modern sewage, as it's being regulated by the Royal Waterworkers. Along with that, all cities have maintained roads and highways for need of travel, although pavement VS cobblestone VS maintained dirt roads vary on the area.
Mythology & Lore
At the axis of Edda's turmoil, after The Tower had made Mana into Mortals, a being appeared with a thick cloak of feathers, antlers that expanded into the horizon, and eyes polluting their form. From one of their eyes they plucked a seed, and from that seed came a giant flower, whose pollen scattered and flew across the land, and where they fell to the earth life and order grew.
For the new mortal beings, the pollen gave them insight and knowledge of what to do. It gave Strength, Speed, Health, Information, Insight, and Inspiration, and these gifts let them build the new land they had been bestowed.
Divine Origins
Historically, it is unknown when The Ascendants began to be worshiped. Some say that it is a hold-over from an ancient wild religion, as many of The Ascendants contain animalistic features. Some also might say that the point of normal mortals ascending to godhood did occur, and their worship began to spread due to it. Nonetheless, it has been around since before Atalanta was even a country, with shrines of their head deity being seen in pieces of art that reached back millennia.
Cosmological Views
All religions in Edda are aware that the world, Arcanoterra, was made via the fusion of Mana. The differences between beliefs arise from the time period between The Towers arrival, and the present day. Ascendant believers have faith that mortal people had the ability to ascend to godhood, but that magic is far too used up now to allow that sort of divine transformation, barring left behind artifacts of long-gone powers.

- Know others - We do not strive in isolation, and community is key to survival
- Place others next to yourself - No one person is better or worse innately
- Live and let live - We each have our own paths and struggles to overcome, do not make yourself one of them.
Worship
Mantras are the main tool of worship among Ascendant believers. For example, a seamstress worshiping The Weaver will chant "My needle thin, the thread go through, I devote this craft to me and to you" before beginning a new product. Alternatively, a thief beginning a high-stakes heist will give a chant to The Cloistered along the lines of "Shadows swift, hands are swifter, i'll enter quick and leave even quicker."
Priesthood
There is no formal hierarchy among the Ascendants. Communities of worshipers will take it upon themselves to either worship in their own personal ways, or elect a community leader, usually adorned with a small crown of antlers tipped in gold or silver, but other than that it is formless.
Sects
Along with the informality of the structure, there are no exact sects among The Ascendants. People will worship different deities, but will rarely divide themselves on hard lines.

Atalantan Marshwood not only is a great channel for Arcane Energies, but looks quite luxurious due to it's emerald green and/or violet hues depending on the marsh, so it's a prize for wooden furniture. Along with that, Iron and Copper are found in bounds within Atalanta, and the Atalantan fish market is world renowned.
Major Imports
For all of Atalanta's benefits, they have a lack of naturally forming gemstones, aside from those curated with water minerals, so many mages require outsourcing, along with large amounts of Steel, as Atalanta has vast amounts of Iron and Copper more than anything.
Legislative Body
The Atalantan Senate meets daily for an allotted time to discuss matters with representatives and speakers, before deliberating among themselves along with consulting experts to make decrees and decisions, although as the senate members are the ones who pick the experts, many rumors of nepotism or unreliable information are abound.
Judicial Body
The Aquan Court decides the rules, staying strict to tradition and what was made ages ago, many trials by combat occur, and the death penalty is in full effect.
