Penelope
While Atalanta is mostly a country of grasslands and swampland, in the south of the country does exist a large forest, known as The Orion Woods. Within that deep, verdant forest lies the large city of Penelope.
The 4th largest city in Atalanta, Penelope is home to a large population of Elves alongside the human population. A walled city based on trees and wood, it's a self-sustaining lumber town, and also a capital for hunting and animal products as well for Atalanta.
Even though the people of Atalanta do not give the Fey as much reverence as those in Hippolyta, Penelope is a city very close to the primal forces of nature and the plane of the Fey. There are many crafters and smiths in the city who even have contracted with the Fey to give their materials a magical boost.
This connection to the Fey is in no small part due to Senator Placide Nicolas, an Eladrin Elf (one closer to the Fey than other elves) and someone who advocated for Fey protections, due to many people not understanding and fearing the creatures.
The city rests upon a deep mine cavern, which accesses salt-water lakes coming from the nearby ocean, which has resulted in a large amount of various salt-water clay deposits, which has resulted in a large amount of clay-based industries in the city, including a whole competing market of potters and crafters.
Demographics
Penelope has mostly Elven population, and among those Wood Elves and Eladrin Elves are the most prominent. There are a significant Dark Elf and High Elf population, but they pale in comparison. There's also a strong Orc population, along with Goblins, and the respective diminutive of those races.
Government
Penelope is run by a Senator just like all of Atalanta, but given the cities Fey presence, going back years before the current Senator, they draw inspiration from the Fey Courts and have a council in place as well, although the Senator gets the final say on decisions.
Defences
The city has utilized tall dark wood trees to form the walls of the city, with the towers being made of those very hollowed out trees connected by reinforced stone as well.
Industry & Trade
Penelope, alongside typical industries one can expect from Atalanta, also has a large amount of Pottery from the caves beneath the city, containing a lot of salt-water and clay to use, alongside a strong amount of unique and famed Inns.
Infrastructure
The city uses mostly naturally strong wood, stone, and some Steel in the construction of the cities systems, but never Iron as that would mess with the Fey residents of the area. Its systems involve modern plumbing, renewable Mana Energy, and a few water purification plants as well that draws from the saltwater caverns beneath the city.
Architecture
The city mostly subsists off of wooden buildings, along with some stones and plenty of Clay.
Geography
Penelope is at the southern end of The Orion Forests, a vast forest scape that gets thicker at the ends, making it hard to get to if you don't know what you're doing.
