Locate Object
Effects
Describe or name an object that is familiar to you. You sense the direction to the object's location, if it is in the same region as you (on the map). If the object is in motion, you know the direction of its movement. The spell can locate a specific object known to you, as long as you have seen it up close within 6 tiles at least once. Alternatively, the spell can locate the nearest object of a particular kind, such as a certain kind of apparel, jewelry, furniture, tool, or weapon. This spell can't locate an object if any thickness of lead, even a thin sheet, blocks a direct path between you and the object.A player casting this spell must include their current location, screenshotted, on the map. After doing so, they must describe the object they are tracking; there are two kinds of objects that can be tracked using this spell. Similarly, it is generally anticipated that the player casting this ritual is meant to provide the name or ID of the individual who has taken from them, be it an act name in the case of a highway, robbery, or an image of the POI in the case of an infiltration or raid.
To track an object you must have been within 6 tiles of the item, and inspect it at least once or have held it personally. Items contained within lead boxes or under the effects of ritual or spells that would obscure it from divination can not be tracked. Locate objects can only be cast on a specific object once per week.
Material Objects:
These are physical objects in RPR, usually taken as cons or given as gifts. These include only fully assembled items, such as armor or weapons. They do not include consumables or resources, such as gathered materials, item components, or potions. If you are uncertain about the qualification of a specific item, please inquire.
Fluff Objects:
Fluff objects are implicitly items stolen during infiltrations that do not have RPR value, but are otherwise relevant. If someone steals a clock from your house, and leaves a PoI, you can attempt to track the clock. Gifted items can not be tracked this way.
DM Objects:
Items tied to DM plots may circumvent these requirements only with the express permission of the DM involved. Please consult your DM when attempting to track a plot relevant item, and understand that they reserve the right to say no if it would otherwise harm the plot to do so.
Upon submitting the ticket for a valid item, staff will reach out to the character/player in question to determine their direction upon the map in relation to your starting position. They will then provide a general direction that the item is in relation to your starting position, this direction will not point you exactly to the location of your object, and instead provides a general notion. (Northwest, South, ext)
This spell can only be used on a given object once per week.
