BUILDING RULES
BUILDING RULES
Any player with a build/base found to be in violation of these rules will be immediately contacted in a ticket with defining instructions on what needs to change, as well as an established deadline by which the changes must be completed. This deadline will take into account the player’s availability, and if the changes aren’t made by the deadline, or discussed beforehand; the build will be subject to deletion or modification without further warning or reimbursement for lost items. If you’re not sure if your base violates these rules or not, open a help ticket! The staff will be happy to review your build or concept and let you know.
If you are Building for your clan or faction, you may input a tag above your head that says 'OOC Building'. This will allow you to build without getting disturbed by potential roleplay. As you build your character will be considered Out of Character and not present. Any characters without the 'OOC Building' status are still considered in character and may be approached according to our rules.
Map Bounds
There are to be no builds placed on the cliffs that border the map edges, or clipping through blocking volumes on the server. This can create load errors, leading to performance or other issues with the server. This is due to a limitation of Conan Exiles and the maximum allowed map size for the game itself.
Aphrodite's Performance Enhancer Mod Crossroads uses a performance enhancer mod to keep our database clean and manage high-population restarts. This mod periodically scrubs inventories of items that are not on a dedicated list of allowed storages. The following is the list of current approved storages, accessible through the Storage Kit.

i. PLAYER CLANS
Base build radius for player clans on the Surface is 80x80 tiles, measured by the RPR move tool. In the Underdark, the base build radius is 60x60 tiles. 1 tile is equal to 1 Conan foundation.Player clans must be built at least 65 tiles (using the RPR measuring tool) away, or 40 tiles within the Underdark, from one another, edge-to-edge. To ease potential tensions, a distance of 100 or more tiles is advised. Further to this player builds must be at least 50 tiles away from DM builds, see the Dungeon Master Guide for information on how to identify a DM build.
Additionally, clan sizes will be limited to no more than 20 clan members.
Main Factions, such as Leilon, Phandalin, and Southkrypt, are not subject to the clan member limitations.
If you are the last or only person in your clan, you are required to delete your build before shelving/rerolling. If you are having any issues with this, please make a ticket ASAP before shelving/rerolling.
ii. PLACES OF INTEREST
Various locations of the map contain Places of Interest. Places of Interest include Underdark entrances, Gathering Zones, and Warps. Player builds must be at least 50 tiles (using the RPR measure tool) away from these places of interest. Any group/player found to be in violation of these rules will be given 48 hour notice to move their build or have it removed by Staff. We do not allow players to build structures or place deco in the upperdark, with the exception of POIs for the purposes of tracking.
iii. TERRAIN
Players are allowed to build on interesting/unreachable terrain however within limits. Including an IC reason for being so. An example being a floating base. Player bases should appear architecturally sound, appropriate for the culture they represent, and functional for the region they’re found in. No comically tall towers without adequate support, giant cubes, or honeycomb bases. Staying lore friendly, and RP friendly is imperative to the server. If you are unsure, please open a ticket to discuss with staff.iv. TEMPORARY BUILDS
No building tiles or placeables may be placed outside a clan’s main build area, with the exception of infiltrator notes, notes, and points of interest (POI’s). Temporary camps may also be given an exception to this rule. To ask for a temporary build, please submit a building assistance ticket. Each request will be evaluated for the purpose of the temporary build to determine the amount of BP and decos allowed, as well as the length of time the temporary build may remain.v. LEAVE OF ABSENCE
Inactive clans/builds/characters will be deleted after a four week period of inactivity. To prevent this from happening wrongfully, please open a ticket if you will be taking an extended leave of absence. The admins are happy to provide build kits should anyone return afterwards. This is to avoid clogging up the server when locations aren't being used.If a player has a LOA with an unknown return time, the player may opt to inform staff and be allowed to shelf with their mastery marks to avoid character deletion and loss of progress.
vi. HUB TERRITORY
Building in Hub territory is allowed and follows the same distance restrictions as building near player clans, listed above.vii. PATHWAYS
At Crossroads, immersion is a top priority. Similarly with Terrain, we want our playerbase to respect that Pathways are essential means of getting from Point A to Point B. We require builds to steer clear of blocking pathways in the same way we require of Places of Interest such as Dungeons, Underdark caves, and Warps. A pathway may only be blocked if it occupies an endpoint of that specific path; and only up to the 80 tile diameter limitation of your build. With respect to roads and pathways that are part of our server's base map here at Crossroads, players are permitted to construct on one or both adjoining sides of such routes. However, no player may claim ownership or control over the physical road that passes through. The road itself does not constitute a clan-controlled space for the purpose of infiltration, raids- or related mechanics, however the clan-controlled buildings do and are subject to all normal rules and mechanics.
viii. SISTER CLANS
The creation of sister clans to circumvent the limited amount of players to a single clan is also NOT ALLOWED. 'Sister clanning' is defined as a direct extension of another clan with the purpose of expanding membership of a single clan beyond the limits set in place for clan membership. Examples of this include having two clans under a single leadership structure, with communal resources.ix. RAVENCREST MAILBOXES AND BIRDS
MailboxesWhen not being used as a mailbox (such as operating as a deposit/donation box), mailboxes must have 'Can Receive Messages' unchecked. This will remove them from the list of mailboxes that can receive mail from other players, but still allows functionality for deposits. Clans may host mailboxes for other players, or create clan concepts centered around mail services such as an inn or a post office. When a player rerolls, clans should delete their mailboxes. Clans should limit themselves no more than:
- Two (2) listed mailboxes per member. This cap includes mailboxes hosted for players outside the clan.
- One (1) listed mailbox per rented room.
- One (1) listed General (clan-wide) mailbox
Birds
Clans are permitted two (2) Ravencrest Courier birds to be used as a placeables for the purpose of the alert function. Birds that are nested in mailboxes, used as shoulder pets, or functioning as non-alert placeables are not included in this count.
x. DOORS AND CHESTS
All doors and chests must be able to be lockpicked. Unfortunately, some of the mods do not communicate with our lock system. This includes personal chests and BeyondCities doors. Please do not use them!xi. EE PACKING
EE Packing is strictly forbidden in use, as it bypasses our BP and placeables. If you are caught using this, it falls under our XVII. EXPLOITATION rule and will incur consequences.xii. Excessive Placeable Use
While it is not feasible to create an exhaustive list and predetermined quantities, players should be mindful of the performance impact of their build. This means they should not stack placeables in excessive densities in their base, use excessive amounts of torches or lighting as doing so creates performance issues for other players.Additionally, players should be conscientious of their use of Tot Mannequins with accessories. As they load client side and may cause rooms to appear empty or items to be missing on lower end rigs if used in excess. In instances where staff believe that a build has excessively used placeables, or Tot mannequin accessories, staff may ask for this to be amended to be more accommodating to players with lower end machines.
If you are unsure if something is excessive or wish for advice on reducing lag in your clan build. Please feel free to open a building assistance ticket with any build related questions.
xiii. Underwater Building
A base on Land or a partially submerged base that utilizes waterways that give the Swimming status MUST have visible and accessible ways to exit the water.Having waterblock foundations or water planes do not trigger the Aquatic Combat or Aquatic Base infiltration rules. These rules are only instituted by waterways that trigger the Swimming status.
xiv. Clan Storage in Underwater Builds
Any base that has a majority (more than half) of its livable structure beneath the water is considered partially submerged. Livable space is defined as closed off/private housing.A structure must be considered partially submerged as defined above or fully submerged in order to keep clan valuables storage under water that triggers Swimming infiltration as noted on the Infiltration, Raid, & Siege Conflict Rules page.
Players cannot keep a vault / storage room as their only underwater space for the sole purpose of making infiltration harder as this is an exploitation of the rule.
XV. Secret Doors
Secret/hidden doors require a POI if the door is locked. The POI must have a minimum radius of 2 outlining a DC12 (Investigation) for others to discover a locked door. Whether locked or not, Secret Doors MUST be physically accessible.Players may use the following items as decoration, or to cover a hidden passage or secret room.
Players do not have to denote a hidden room with a POI while using one of these items.
1. Hidden Door: Bookcase
2. Hidden Door: Wardrobe
3. Liu Fei's Wardrobe
4. Hidden Door: Carpet
5. Hidden Door: Tapestry
Players may lock no more than four (4) of these hidden doors when obfuscating the opening to a hidden passage. An example may be a wall of Hidden Door: Bookcases with four (4) locked, or four (4) locked Liu Fei's Wardrobe scattered at random through a base. The other decorative doors or wardrobes used as a build must remain unlocked.
Players may not use the Nemedian Secret Door in any context, even when unlocked as it is only abled to be opened by clan members
