Southkrypt

Introduction

Why serve such a malicious mistress? The answer is best found in the settlement of Southkrypt. In the shadow of her wings does the goblin find tenuous kinship with the orc, a bubbling cauldron containing all manner of villains. Tyrants, scholars and thieves seek territory, secrets and treasure. The godmother of terror promises it all - if only you are willing to serve as a pawn in her game of intrigue.

Goals

Southkrypt is the domain of Claugiyliamatar, who rules the surrounding Kryptgarden Forest with an iron fist. The council of Claugiyliamatar are the dragon’s trusted representatives, and thus, they exist to carry out her wishes. Green Dragons are greedy and vain creatures; the council is not above commissioning people to participate in banditry, kidnappings or murders on behalf of their interests or the interests of the dragon. The settlement exists to fulfill her whims when she seeks cruel entertainment or fill her lair with treasure - and settlers are often willing to do so in exchange for personal gain.

Citizens of Southkrypt

Southkrypt is host to a myriad of malicious races, with goblinoids and orcs being most prominent among them, though it would accommodate those of common races so long as they are tolerant of the vile nature of their hosts. Worshippers of the orcish and goblinoid pantheons hold clear tensions with one another, and even if a common race is welcomed, they are due to face scrutiny for their heritage. Notable groups include those of the Lostafinga Tribe, the Mawborn Horde and members of the Gnawbones, a common-race criminal organization who serve Claugiyliamatar.

The Council of Southkrypt

‒ Gnash Lostafinga

A general of the region’s Lostafinga hobgoblin tribe, cold-hearted and pragmatic. He maintains a shaky alliance alongside Arnokk the Listener, divided by racial hatred, and united only by their mutual goal with the Lostafinga Tribe to see the settlements of the surrounding area plundered and dominated.

‒ Arnokk the Listener

An orcish elder who seeks to orc-kind under the banner of Claugiyliamatar so that they might wage a glorious slaughter, Arnokk possesses a cruelty toward humans and elves, tempered calm, fatherly wisdom. A superstitious sort, he provides council based on premonition and practices spiritual worship of the orcish pantheon, which clashes with the cold pragmatism of Gnash Lostafinga.

‒ Hawker of the Gnawbones

A half-elf representative of the Gnawbones, Claugiyiliamatar’s criminal gang based out of the city of Neverwinter - ‘Hawker’ serves the council as a spymaster and sees to the dragon’s financial assets, administering matters of trade. Hawker, neither idealistically opposed to his human or elven counterparts, nor serving Claugiyliamatar due to religious fanaticism, seeks profit above all, and represents those who fall under her banner for the simplest of reasons: to get paid.

Roleplay Guide

A settlement for villains and criminals, this settlement is a haven for malicious races. Various evil gods are worshipped here, though necromancy and hellish practices still hold cultural taboo for certain groups, even if not explicitly forbidden. Good-aligned characters must beware, as this settlement offers no refuge for the righteous, and common races may be regarded with suspicion if they do not outwardly present themselves as some form of criminal or cultist.
