Physical Description
A large greatsword with Adrakian marks along the blade's spine. At the center of the crossguard is a runic mark that looks to have been partially faded.Unusual Properties
The Skarzvard Blade is an extremely sharp blade with an enduring edge resisting time and wear to retain its cut.It was recently discovered to be inhabited by Kotzuiyrn's soul, and can change size from a longsword to a greatsword and back again, based on the desire of the wielder. The re-sizing ability was not recorded as being an ability the sword was forged to have. All surviving historical records describe the Scarzvard Blade as a greatsword, suggesting the blade's size-changing is the result of Kotzuiyrn's abilities.
History
The Forging
Crafted by Skarzvard when he was in training to become the War Priest under Kotzuiyrn. Skarzvard was the son of a weapons blacksmith, so he kept his weapons smithing skills in practice by crafting weapons at various stages in his life.Kotzuiyrn had initially taken an interest in Skarzvard's smithing abilities with a far simpler greatsword, and had his priesthood initiate the young Skarzvard as a member among them.
The Skarzvard Blade, among surviving records about Skarzvard, is recorded as being one of or the last weapon he had made.
The Final Battle
As Skarzvard grew older and became a War Priest, he found his ally and friend, Coryduin - the head of the religious and social priesthoods of Kotzuiyrn - manipulating their deity into favoring more extreme and violent measures against rebellions sparking across Soplas. Concerned for the future of the Adrakian Empire, Skarzvard confronted Coryduin in a battle that ultimately killed the other priest.The Blade, Lost
At some point after that final battle, Skarzvard was seemingly erased from history.It is believed his children separated the weapons their father had made amongst themselves as they themselves split. Coryduin's Bane was placed with the Order of Speared Light in Estopti City's Temple of the Forge, while the Skarzvard Blade wound up forgotten.
The Blade, Found
In the year 46 3A, a party of travelers found the Archives Vault in Bastadina where the Skarzvard Blade had been stored. The vault was under the family name of a "Scaveard" who had died some two and a half thousand years ago, but the vault had been found opened from the inside by someone somehow digging through behind the vaults.In Bastadina, a mage of some magical power was searching for the Skarzvard blade as it fled north with the thief having attracted the attention of a descendent of Skarzvard and the mage.
The mage's interest was reportedly for the power and influence claiming the sword would grant them among like-minded people and to gain favor with a rival of Kotzuiyrn's.
The Blade Restored
The sword was eventually placed into the ownership of Mathias Skarzvard, who had been raised believing his ancestor was infact a high ranked but considered historically unimportant ally of Saint Antral from the early days of her rebellion, not a high ranked priest within the Adrakian Empire who join towards the end.Kotzuiyrn's inhabitance within the blade has allowed him to speak and communicate with people near the blade, and has suggested that he may be able to break mind-control ties and bonds between individuals, though the task is made easier if the members of the mind-control bonds are further away from each other. He's been proud of his ability to break such bonds, but has insisted the ability is because of him, and the blade was never meant to be more than a very sharp, well made, greatsword.
