Nahal
Nahal was the first city to be created by the Sladovian government in 1055. The intention was to allocate workers to the region to make wagons, and farm equipment. That changed shortly after a unnamed Nahalite engineer drew up designed for a flying vehicle, a vehicle that can soar with the clouds. After a prototype was build, and was shown to the townspeople, the Sladovian government intervened. Over the next few weeks the city was transformed to produce more of these new airships. Over time the city has made huge technological advancements to make their airships able to compete with its southern neighbor on the technological field and the battlefield.
Demographics
The city is composed of strictly Humans, Halflings, and Dwarfs. The wealth largely remains with the baron and closely followed by the owners of the airship building facility, Dinan & Boyd Industries.
Government
The baron controls all taxes and laws in the city. Barons are appointed by the councilors in charge of all Sladovia. Taxes and in city laws are more lax to let Dinan & Boyd Industries to control the workers how they see fit.
Defences
The city has a near constant patrol of war airships in the skies. If an army makes it past those, the city is armed with cannons and soldiers are garrisoned in several positions around Nahal. If Nahal is compromised, explosives in the manufacturing plant will be remotely detonated by the government to prevent the invading force from using the plant themselves.
Industry & Trade
Workers build individual parts of the airships like the envelope, cabin, engines, elevators and rudders. Some airships are equipped with munitions like cannons or bombs which are made in the city as well.
Infrastructure
The city is planned with a focus on airship manufacturing. Citizens reside near or within their place of work. Mechanisms to build the airships reach hundreds of feet high to launch and recover them. Materials are brought into town via rail system, and are loaded onto a trolley system that takes the materials where they need to go. Roads are lain with brick and lead workers and government officials from building to building. Water is brought in via canal from a nearby lake, and sewage is dumped into a river flowing to the ocean.
Assets
The city hold materials intended for the building of airships and contains warehouses for food and water storage.
Guilds and Factions
Dinan & Boyd Industries controls much of the government, as the business being there is the only sustainable way to produce and maintain the airship fleet Sladovia has amassed. This allows D&B to subdue the population of Nahal to their liking, effectively controlling schedules, payments, housing, and even quality of water or food provided to them. The Sladovian government tries to keep their influence to a minimum to keep the control of the rest of the country out of the businesses hands. The Sladovian Powers is a group of fanatic Nahal government enthusiasts try to combat the control that D&B has over Nahal and return it to the rightful owner, the baron.
History
Nahal was founded by Sladovian officials in 1055 to act as the countries manufacturer of farming equipment, including tools, wagons and even housing. The city went through no major changes until the invention of the Airship by the unnamed engineer around 1510 who proposed his designs to the baron at the time. Less than a year later a working prototype was built and shown to the Council of Three. The councilors were astonished by the creation and set Nahal to be overhauled to create these machines as soon as possible. In 1515 the first airship launched, and was designed to transport goods over long distances. It wasn't until 1523 when the first militarized airship reached the battlefield. The tide of battle was changed with its arrival, as the Pallovian navy was hammering Sladovian navy and trade ships alike. The airships pushed the back the Pallovian navy allowing Sladoiva to gain the upper hand in the 70 year war, causing the FIC to begin their retreat and start construction of the border wall.
Tourism
The city welcomes tourists from all over the world. The fact that the major controlling entity of the city is a business headquartered in the FIC draws many tourists. People visiting the city come for the chance to tour one of the famous airships, and being able to see the countryside from the sky. The beaches also make for a nice spot for visitors and locals alike.
Architecture
Nahal has a very industrial design similar to Areohollow to the south. Buildings are made with brick and steel finished to look like bronze. Streets are lain with brick. The machines used for airship manufacturing are located in the middle of the city.
Geography
Nahal is surrounded by rolling hills that are crisscrossed with rivers. Sparse woodlands dot the landscape.
Natural Resources
Plenty of farmland allow villages controlled by Nahal allow it to sustain itself so it can focus on airship manufacturing, water is taken from the rivers around the city, and wells are dug throughout the city.
