Drangholt
Drangholt is the southern most city of Sladovia and is designated as the countries tool manufacturing center. The items made in the city are sent to and used in every other city and town in Sladovia. Wagons, axes, heavy machinery, spare parts, and more are all manufactured in Drangholt. The city also acts as the transportation hub of the country with access to roads, rail systems, and airship landing and launching zones. Being so close to the border of the FIC the city is built like a fortress, with each entry and exit it the town being closely monitored. Drangholt was founded in 998 and was originally a territory of the FIC and was captured by Sladovia in the final days of the of the 70 year war
Demographics
The citizens of Drangholt are strictly humans, halflings, and dwarfs. The wealth is held by owners of manufacturing plants in the city, and the baron. Drangholts taxation targets the individual workers more than the company owners, causing the working class be poorer.
Government
The baron has complete control of what goods are made in the city, controls takes and laws, and acts as the final word on law. Taxation is limited to individual wealth, leaving several loopholes for businesses to thrive.
Defences
The city has a whole legion of soldiers garrisoned to protect it from any attacks from the south. The soldiers are contained in a fort just a few miles south of the city, armed with large walls, cannons, bunkers, and plenty of firearms.
Industry & Trade
Drangholt supplies the whole country with tools and equipment of all kinds, to do this several things need to be imported. Lumber, sourced mostly from Kivertrov and its villages, metals forged in Chitina, and food from its own towns to sustain it. To power its factories, several coal powered power plants have been built in the city, mostly residing in the top layers. Workers transport the goods from other cities to factories, which are then made into tools needed throughout the country. Then the manufactured tools are distributed by orders of The Council of Three.
Infrastructure
The city itself is a maze of railways, streets, buildings, machines, and people. To outsiders the city doesnt seem to stop moving. This is due to the compact idea the city was built upon. Drangholt was built to be the most efficient manufacturing machine Sladovia could muster. Roads passing through buildings, factories and residential housing sharing the same building, all are common in this city. Goods are brought in and out of the city through the Sladovian railway system, which runs right under the city. Those goods are then loaded onto local transporters and taken to their destination. The towns controlled by Drangholt provide it with food so that it can focus on its primary task of goods manufacturing.
Assets
The city has miles upon miles of roads and rails twisting through the city. Warehouses of the city contain food and goods that are awaiting to be transported further. A local bank acts as a remote treasury for the town.
Guilds and Factions
The three main factions of the city are the baron, the business collective, and the workers union. The baron works to keep the town running smoothly with guidance from the council of three. The Business Collective works to allow more control on what things are made, and how to make them. The workers union wants workers to be less punished by the tax codes of the city, and have more city funds allocated to housing and living standards.
History
Drangholt, founded in 998, was just a small farming town. The town first became prominent around 1200 when the tools made within it became renowned for being better than any other tools made anywhere else. Over the next few decades trading boomed, causing the city to expand rapidly. When the FIC formed Drangholt had no desire of choosing a side, as business came from all parts of the world. As Sladovia cheeped further south, Drangholt eventually decided to join the FIC in 1256. War did eventually come when Sladovia invaded from the mountains in the west, using airships rigged with firearms and explosives, the town was decimated in just a few days. Since then Sladovia has rebuilt it and used survivors to produce equipment for its own uses.
Tourism
When visitors come to Drangholt, they come to experience the tallest city in the world. Markets of the lower city attract many tourists with trinkets and and oddities, where the wealthier visitors may be spotted in the sky high casinos.
Architecture
Dranhgolt is a very unique city in that most structures are made out of adamiantite metal, to push the boundaries of how tall a building can be. The Lower sections of the city are very crowded, with older stone and brick buildings overrun by highways, roads, and other buildings. The middle part of the city is where the adamantite construction becomes commonplace, with buildings now featuring roads and railways going through them. The upper part of the city is only accessible through elevators in buildings that reach it. The upper city contains the governmental building, casinos, and the is where the wealthy reside. Sky bridges sting together buildings at that height, allowing viewing of the city and landscape below.
Geography
The area surrounding the city is relatively flat, with rich soil, and rivers to the north.
Natural Resources
Plenty of rich soil for crops, and fresh water from the mountains are available to Drangholt.
