Artefacts of Axora

Overview

Over the course of the history of Axora, a few items have gained the hallowed status of being a legendary Artefact. Usually capitalised to provide distinction against other historical artefacts, these items have many names across the many cultures, including Morara ol'dia in the Old Tongue, meaning 'power of the gods'. Most languages are a variation upon that but the term in the common shared language of Axora is simply just 'Artefacts'.

Weapons

Bo'estada

One of the least well kept secrets amongst the lot. Bo'estada is the weapon of the Champion of the Elves, supposedly holding the power of Virion Yessalor, the Elven God. Bo'estada has been wielded in the hands of Elven heroes through the ages in times of great need. It has recently been bestowed to Astrid Taranaechi, breaking tradition of a High Elf owner as she is a Snow Elf instead.

Boldzuntar

Though not the Dwarven Champion's weapon, Boldzuntar is particularly famed amongst Dwarven culture as a greataxe that can split even the hardest rock, hence its name - Stonecutter is the translation.

Bounteous Wildstaff

A staff attuned to nature. The Bounteous Wildstaff is the embodiment of the goddess of nature, Cephione.

Dreamwhisper

One of the more mysterious entries on Artefact lists, with very little information gathered about it. The only detail known is that it is a dagger.

The Great Render

This greatsword has been wielded by a few elite warriors across the ages.

Heartseeker

One of two artefacts created during The Cataclysm War, Heartseeker is a small portable crossbow designed to wielded one-handed. It is currently wielded by Grey Knight member August Truemore.

Honourbound

A weapon known to related to its name, only the honourable may wield it. However, even scholar do not know the exact type of weapon it is purported to be, only that it is a weapon that has reach to it.

The Phantom Glaive

Another mysterious lengthy weapon, The Phantom Glaive is said to be protected in a deep dark cavern somewhere.

Raven's Edge

One of the more publicly known Artefact, Raven's Edge was last seen in the hands of Emilia Barreto Pimental during the Cataclysm War. Raven's Edge is associated with Zarene, the goddess of death, complete with sharing her Raven motifs.

Skyreaver

Skyreaver is a curious entity amongst the Artefacts for scholars. Like The Phantom Glaive, the academics that have even heard about the Artefact are unsure of which god is it associated with. It is known to be a spear with the power of lightning, however.

Stave of Knowledge

The Stave of Knowledge, ironically, is largely unknown. No one knows its location or, indeed, its capabilities.

Sword of Guiding Light

The Sword of Guiding Light, along with the Plate of Unholy Warding and the Shield of the Reflected Dawn are collectively also known as The Lost Artefacts of Aregos Falstar, as they were granted to him during the Cataclysm War. They are also unique in that all three are attributed to Alios, the god of light. All other gods only have one Artefact confidently associated with them (theories from some leading scholars in the field believe the primordial gods might share more).

Tear of the Moon

A legendary weapon, presumed to reside in the Isles of Ilhon, it has become the target for every pirate that dwells in the region. It is viewed in such reverence, that any individual who finds and wields it would be welcomed as the Pirate King/Queen.

Zantor, Hammer of the Furious

The weapon of the Champion of the Dwarves, Zantor is a legend amongst their culture. It was held in the secret Black Archive (Obsarkaiv) in Khul Boldir but was recently stolen by an individual disguised as Janak Shadowthane, presumed to be the resurrected Krotar Shadowthane and now in the possession of the The Council of Nine.

Wizard's Warstaff

Ispilla, the goddness of magic, has imbued this staff with her power. A staff that has been held by many a powerful mage through the ages, it has been in the possession of the Greyson family since the Cataclysm War.

Armour

Dread Hide

Crafted from the scales of Dreadfang upon vanquishing him, the Dread Hide did not see much action as it was only used in the very last days of the Cataclysm War before being secured in a secret location. The resurrected Aregos Falstar has gone in search of it, in the location he presumed his former self would have hidden the armour.

Molten Carapace

The least trusted item in the Artefact list, as it is imbued with the power of Vulkarna, the banished goddess of fire. Whilst most believe this item's influence will have passed to Karf, the god of crafting, who inherited the duty of fire upon her banishment, this is not a unanimous opinion.

Morrow's Ward

One of the more enigmatic Artefacts, it was recently collected by a group of adventurers called The Grey Knights following an encounter with the Moro, who themselves are regarded as myth. The Moro are in fact time elementals, a creation of Solemis, the god of time, and it their duty to bestow what is should be called Moro's Ward to worthy recipients. A resurrected Aregos Falstar advised the Grey Knights that he was gifted it last time, and was given to General Percival Kreen. It is currently worn by the Grey Knight member Theron Firestone.

Plate Armour of Unholy Warding

The second of the Artefacts that Aregos Falstar held during the Cataclysm War. Whilst regarded as an Artefact by historians and scholar, the resurrected Falstar admitted to the Grey Knights that the plate isn't one.

Robes of the Sands

A curious item, as from an elemental point of view, sand elementals are a combination of wind and earth. With Essina attributed to the Cape of the Four Winds, and Armon to the Boots of Earthen Might (both below), scholars are unsure if both lent their power to this item or neither. The primordial gods were said to be the most powerful, so it is possible they could power more than one item.

Shield of the Reflected Dawn

The Shield that Aregos held during the Cataclysm, is an Artefact. In conjunction with the Sword of Guiding Light, and other magical items, Aregos utilised them all to great effect.

Miscellaneous

Astrakar's Wraps

Astrakar's Wraps were, until recently, held in Santua ol'Sola Estada. They were stolen by a contracted thief bought by Lycia Steros in an attempt to consolidate these Artefacts under her protection. However, her courier was intercepted by more nefarious sources and the current whereabouts are unknown.

Boots of Earthen Might

Attributed to Armon, the god of earth, the Boots of Earthen Might are said to bestow the wearer with the steadfast sturdiness associated with the element.

Cape of the Four Winds
by AmazingChi (via Midjourney)

An item imbued with the power of Essina, goddess of the winds, the Cape's location was a much discussed topic. Last seen in the possession of a famous naval figure in the Maressea region, it was recently found atop of concealed tower in the Villeona Archipelago by the Grey Knights, who then interred it into the care of Lycia Steros.

Gloves of the Endless Seas

Naturally, Tidur, the god of water, is associated with these gloves. Unlike their wind counterpart, far less is known about the Gloves, even in the non-public circles.

Hearthflame Ring

The least known of all the named Artefacts, and the most recent discovery from an academic perspective. The Hearthflame Ring is known only to a few, but changes the long held views regarding Joybringer (below) as Aeda, goddess of happiness, also holds the hearth amongst her associations meaning this ring is likely linked to her.

Joybringer

Often erroneously attributed to Aeda, goddess of happiness, as the Hearthflame Ring is far from common knowledge, Joybringer is a rod kept under the stewardship of the Raya al'Wayafara in Khusaka. Though even that isn't well known, either. This information was recently passed from Elysira Sussurill to the Grey Knights, in their quest to secure these Artefact in advance of an incoming disaster. Whilst Elysira trusted them with this information, and warned against a potential threat to the item, she did not give the precise location and she, and the Raya, had conspired to move the rod into a different secret location.
