Moro Species in Axora | World Anvil

Moro

Summary

The Moro (singular and plural are the same) are ancient creatures that have remained in the mortal world. Technically, they are time elementals. Roughly, they are the temporal version of Dyne Ilimine

Appearance

Standing at over 15ft tall, the Moro appear to be humanoid at first glance. Their entire body seems to be covered in a carefully sculpted platinum-like armour. However, this is, in fact, their body. Their true form within is incorporeal temporal energy, which presents as a yellow-ish glow that emanates from within the gaps in the armour, providing the illusion of eyes behind the plating on their 'face'.   Three Moro exist in the Hall of the Moro, and when met, they speak both telepathically and in unison, their voices overlapping in the recipient's mind. They sound both young and old, male and female, cheerful and despondent.

Purpose & History

Only a handful of mortal individuals have experienced the power of the Moro. Aregos Falstar is the only one to have experienced them twice. Once in his first life, and once following his unexpected resurrection in recent years. Occasionally a god will direct their Chosen to an entrance under Ialos, which ultimately leads to the Hall of the Moro, where the Moro reside. There, they are shown two visions. One of what once was, and one of what may yet come to be. These visions are specifically crafted to illuminate the recipient on their present journey.   Even more occasionally, the Moro will present the visitor with their ultimate gift, a set of plate armour. This armour is a legendary artefact that erroneously got dubbed as 'Morrow's Ward' by the mortal realm. During The Cataclysm War, Aregos Falstar gifted the armour to Percival Kreen, who wasn't a Dion'dia (Guardian of the Gods) at all. Morrow's Ward vanished following Kreen's death   Aregos Falstar returned to the Moro, seeking answers about his resurrection. Instead, he found the adventuring party: "The Grey Knights", all of whom were Dion'dia. (In fact, one was a Chosen of the same gods - Athar & Zarene - that Aregos was before). Aregos had returned to this world with his Chosen status unclear, and so sought both answers from the Moro and hoped that he could obtain Morrow's Ward once again, this time for himself, if he was no longer a true Chosen.

I like how the Moro speak in unison and sound both male and female, happy and despondent, young and old, all at once. Are there only three altogether? Or are there more and they trade off positions?
