Overview
The Isles of Ilhon are a collection of six main islands and assorted smaller islets that are situated in the southwest of the continent of Drassau. The are renowned for their volatile leadership changes and general state of lawlessness. Often, multiple factions are contesting for overall control of the island group.
The Isles
Saldea
The capital city Sa'anlos is located on the south-western island of Saldea. Whilst Saldea isn't the largest island of the six, it was the first to be settled. There is an element of sentimentality in Sa'anlos remaining the capital (and thus, Saldea the primary island) but out of the three largest islands, it is the only one that is relatively round, opposed to
Corbo
Corbo is the largest island of the six, situated in the northwest of the group. Its position places it closest to the island nation of Zoves, which makes it key place to hold if one wanted to intercept ships sailing from the west to Zoves' capital Tajillo. Corbo's awkward shape makes portions of it easy to hold, but difficult hold in its entirety. Quite often, a different faction will be occupying its north and south portions.
Casyun
The arrow-shaped Casyun is in the south-east of the Isles. Casyun is the closest to the South Drassau island nation of Cosania. However, unlike Corbo, Casyun is not close enough for it to be as immediately useful in cutting off trade routes to another port. Like Corbo, though, its shape means that often one faction is control of one half of the island at any given time and the arrow's tip is contested ground.
Puerzocola
Puerzocola is a vaguely triangular island just off Corbo's south-west corner. It's relatively close proximity to Corbo means that whomever is in control of the south of Corbo is also in control of Puerzocola. Almost all of its smallish landmass is mountains, which in turn leads to a plethora of coves for those desiring stash spots.
Lillanora
This rectangular island is the second smallest, and its mostly flat terrain means it is notoriously difficult to defend. Nor is it location particularly useful in any way beyond the Isles. It is, however, directly to the east of Corbo. As Corbo is often engaged in a fight of north vs south, Lillanora becomes a point of pride and can be used as a staging ground in attempts to flank the opposition.
Vencales
Vencales is barely large enough to be counted amongst the main roster of islands but its lack of size makes its singular stronghold that much more difficult to takeover. It's central location amongst the islands makes it a strategic necessity for any aspiring controlling factions. It is essentially one large rock with a walled town placed upon it. Since it is just large enough to contain arable farmland within its walls, siege attempts are rarely successful.
Climate & Terrain
Whilst the main landmass in Drassau, Balhos, has a wide variety of microclimates across its expanse, the Isles of Ilhon remain fairly uniform. They all hold a tropical feel, typically coupled with an almost constant cooler sea breeze. The true irony of the Isles is that they have the perfect weather and for those seeking a tranquil escape but they are one location in Axora that faces the most violence on a regular basis.
