Aþrissía

Sikíronian: Aþrissía /aːθrɪsːija/
Aþrissía (sikíronska)

Aþrissía is one of the nine provinces of the Sikíron Empire in central Adynía, and covers the eastern Meldon Plain and the White Coast along the eastern Central Sea. It's bordered by the province of Upper-Paríon to the west, and Gráhúlysía to the northeast.
Aþrissía's symbol is the hawk, and it's main settlement is the provincial capital of Konn to the south. Much of the province's economy is focused on sheep and textiles, fishing and particularly making a kind of fish sauce which forms an important part of sikíronian cuisine.

History

Konn and the surrounding region were originally a colony founded by the Zameltoníans, a dwarven culture which dominated central Adynía during bronze age, who knew it as Fjazak Gvez or City of the Axe, named after the first votive offering placed in its temple to sanctify the settlement. It was the site of one of the most impressive structure build by the zameltoníans, a tunnel which provided the inhabitants with water from the river Kir, far to the northwest, which is still in use to this day.
After the fall of Zameltonía, most of the underground part of the city was razed by vakkal (ancient Záali) and other human invaders, though the local dwarven population frequently rebelled against them, and Fjazak Gvez remained one of the last strongholds of zameltonian culture for centuries.
During the Paþarían Empire, the region formed a part of the province of Dvaþrisinna, and the city became particularly associated with the cult of Alkoníus, patron god of the empire. After Paþaría collapsed and split into different kingdoms, the province remained a disputed territory until finally being conquered by the Sikíronians and turned into the province of Aþrissía.
