Temple District

No tour of Golgatha is complete without visiting the Temple District. A vast collection of religious buildings, this is the center of the Church of the Pantheon in Carandor. There are churches, Cathedrals, and the High Temple of the Pantheon where High Priests of each god can be found. It’s said that each faith’s High Priest holds the ear of their god, and are able to relay messages back and forth between themselves and their god. Meeting one however requires membership in the church,as well as favors from high places.

Religious Services

Many priests and priestesses live here, both in churches and their personal residences. Additionally, the Order of the Eternal Vigil reside in a monastery here. The order is a brotherhood of monks, following the teachings of Efrasil, the God of Justice.

Elsewhere in the district is the Chamber of Prophecy where a lone Blind Oracle speaks to those whom he chooses, bestowing to them cryptic knowledge of the future. At other times he turns people away, instructing them to return at a specific time in the future to receive their prophecy. Many legendary tales in Golgatha begin with someone receiving a prophecy from the Blind Oracle.

Finally, in the Temple district, there’s the Kyrie, the All-Faiths-Tower, where clerics for hire from outside the Pantheon congregate. Clerics willing to cast spells for money can always be found here, though typically not ones of remarkable potency. Having a place at the Kyrie is seen as a status symbol for those outside the Pantheon. Many starting faiths dream of one day being able to afford an entire floor of the Kyrie, but typically remain relegated to communal spaces or single rooms.
