Forbidden District

The Forbidden District is by far the most dangerous in Golgatha. It was the palatial district of the Tystar line of Kings before the Nine invaded Carandor, both luxurious and defensible. Now, it’s a craggy district on the Eastern side of the city, stuck in the middle of the Merchant and Temple districts. This location houses the most recognizable feature of Golgatha: the Fortress of Fury. This astounding, ever-burning, ex-Tystar castle floats in the air in open defiance of common sense. Accurately dubbed a fortress, it lies unconquered by man; instead reports speak of monstrous occupation. Sometimes, crimson-scaled figures have been sighted atop its walls. These reports are unconfirmed, as nothing and no-one has been able to withstand or suppress the restless flames encompassing it. Imposing flames always erupt from the castle, roaring and dancing far above Golgatha like a torch in the night.

Ever-Present Threat

Aberrant purple plant life has taken over the mountainous district, stopped by the Warding Wall maintained by the Pantheon. This is the only wall Golgathans won’t climb, for on the other side lies something alien and dangerous. It’s said that those who press their ear against the wall during night-time can hear it creeping in the dark on the other side. Many offer prayers and thanks to the Pantheon for the Warding Wall.

Arcane Past

None can approach the Fortress of Fury, for it burns any and all who attempt to explore it into a pile of ash. It’s commonly believed that the district’s current volatile state is an end result of a truly incredible spell-duel between two members of the Nine at the closing of the Second Magewar, but the specifics of such history has been lost to the ages.
