The German Empire

The German Empire is a state, under the leadership of Wilhelm III.

History:

After the success of the Kapp Putsch led by Wolfgang Kapp, he established martial law and restored The German Empire, and had successfully been quelling uprisings in the west, but in the East it fell to anarchy.

Communist's led by Heinrich Brandler, rose up seizing in Saxony and by May 10, they along with Paul Levi, stormed Berlin proclaiming The German Soviet Republic. The German Civil War officially erupted between the restored The German Empire and The German Soviet Republic in the East.

By September 1920, Kapp after preparing for the transition, crowed Wilhelm III as Kaiser, instead of his father Wilhelm II. Many feared crowing his father, would have lead to direct war with France and saw, his son as a more safe approach to rebuilding the monarchy.

France and Britain in reponse, expressed outrage at news of the crowing, however, decided not to withdraw support in their Civil War due to the increasing fears of the state falling to The German Soviet Republic. Which would no doubt embolden The Soviet Union to keep spreading influence in Europe, destabilizing the region.

In 1921, commander-in-chief of the Reichswehr, Walther von Lüttwitz and Wolfgang Kapp helped pressured the Kaiser into supporting annexing Austria do to fears of communist spreading. The Hungarian Soviet Republic's recent withdraw from Czechoslovakia and recognized Klement Gottwald as allies, was also a motivation for the aggressive conquest. From many West German's perspective, they thought their later annexation of the state, was saving them and uniting them with their brother's, both an action of protection and for the idea of pan-Germanism.

By this time, France and Britain united, becoming the Franco-British Union following the example of Scandinavia, Wilhelm III had supported the move, believing it would stop the Soviet's influnce.

The Franco-British Union didn't officially' support The German Empire as there annexation of Austria, restoration of the monarchy and their martial law has both worried and alarmed the nation. However, given the growing threat of Communism that is growing stronger in Europe, they decided to make a deal with the devil, where the Franco-British Union would send weapons to them. As the civil war reached a stalemate, in 1922, a ceasefire was proclaimed.

Many were exhausted, Germany becoming split between the Monarchy west and the Communist east. Wilhelm III helped convince Kapp to lift martial law and restoring the Empire's constitution, unbanning the SPD and other political party's.

The German National People's Party, decided to hold a new election in to show unity in the face of the communist threat in the East(The German Soviet Republic). The German National People's Party won, earning a majority in The Reichstag, while the other parties The SPD, The Centre Party, The DDP, The DVP and new radical right wing The NSDAP we're in the opposition. After the death of Wolfgang Kapp, The German National People's Party choose Karl Helfferich to become the new chancellor.

It seem's life in the West, is what it was before 1914 with the old system returned, but will it last this time?

Internal Politics:

The restored German Empire, from March 1920 to February 1922, was under martial law and early resistance was completely crushed, as it was one party state with Kapp being dictator while the monarch ruled in the background for most of its history. However, some right wing organization's were instead spared, like The National Socialist German Workers' Party which was then under Anton Drexler, who offered support in stabilizing the regime, and the constitutional monarchist The DVP which agreed not to criticize Kapp's government.

Anti-Semtism, was prominent within the Kapp Government including Wolfgang Kapp himself, as Jew's were targeted in raid's and deported. Unfortunately, since many countries refused them, Kapp was forced to establish German Ghettos's in which conditions were often unlivable.

Up to September of 1920, the nation did not have a Kaiser as The German National People's Party heavily debated who to restore the throne. This lasted up to Octuber of that year, where the government decided to restore Wilhelm II's son "Wilhelm, Crown Prince". Officially taking the name 'Wilhelm III' as the nation's new Kaiser. It was hoped this would appease France and The UK to not break off support, in their civil war against the communist's.

During 1921, Wolfgang Kapp began approving program's for Jew's, increasing his suppression of them, blaming them for Germany's current situation. Ghetto's by this point were becoming regularity attacked by anti-Semitic group's, like the Sturmabteilung, under Adolf Hitler.

The Kaiser and Kapp, often sometimes had trouble working together, despite mutual respect. Wolfgang disapproved of the Kaiser's pardons of political enemies, often tried overruling him. On the other hand, Wilhelm III, believed Kapp was being too harsh on opposition wishing for a return to "The Good Old Days" before 1914, including criticism of his suppression of Germany's Jew's.

As the civil ended in a ceasefire by the beginning of January 1922 and peace seemly settled in. The Kaiser, Wilhelm III talked Kapp into restoring the imperial constitution, restoring the empire's original Semi-Constitutional Monarchy. With new election's, The German National People's Party emegered victorious, securing a majority in The New Reichstag located in its capital Frankfurt signalling the continuation of the current monarchy.

The German Empire, though not allied with Franco-Union, have an current uneasy "unofficial" alliance with the union, one that is fragile as Franco-British Union see's them as a buff state between The Soviet Union and a means to an end.

The Growing Rise Of The NSDAP:

The National Socialist German Workers' Party now led by Adolf Hitler, is growing in popularity, they have taken dissatisfaction of the nationalist’s disappointment with the monarchy’s failures, including to win the civil war. He has made direct calls to embrace a more modern nationalist vision for the country, calling for abolishment of the monarchy.

Remnant Republicans:

Since the civil war, Wilhelm III, pardoned many who were arrested during the Civil War, these being the supporters of the Weimar Republic. The restored The SDP, under Otto Wels he's hopeful to restore the republic democratically by ousting the German National People's Party in the Reichstag.

German Reunification:

If the Monarchy, remains in power, under Wilhelm III defeating The German Soviet Republic, when Civil War, reignites. Badenweiler Marsch will be played, over radio, across Germany. The German Empire will rebuild, Wilhelm wanting Germany to have its place in the sun, similar to his father's vision.

If the Monarchy is abolished again and the Wemiar Republic is restored under Otto Wels and defeated The German Soviet Republic when Civil War reignites. Die freie Republik will be played, over radio, across Germany. They will rebuild, and they will try to take up charge against communism, either going their own way or working with Franco-British Union.

If the monarchy is abolished and a German Reich is proclaimed under Adolf Hitler and defeated The German Soviet Republic when Civil War reignites. Der Tod in Flandern will be played, over radio, across Germany. They will rebuild and will ally with Italy, opposing both the Communist East and the Capitalist West.
