The German National People's Party
The German National People's Party an is German national-conservative Monarchist/Reactionary is a political party and is ruling The German Empire under Wilhelm III lead currently by Karl Helfferich.
History:
The German National People's Party emerged from a coalition of nationalist, conservative, and monarchist groups, including remnants of the pre-war German Conservative Party and other right-wing factions.
The DNVP was a vocal opponent of the new democratic government established after the abdication of Kaiser Wilhelm II. It viewed the republic as illegitimate and weak, blaming it for Germany's defeat and the Versailles Treaty. They allied with many Freikorps and far-right paramilitary's.
After Wolfgang Kapp took control of Germany in his Pustch and the party leadership, a civil war erupted, with Communists taking control of East Germany proclaiming The German Soviet Republic backed by the Soviet's. Walther von Lüttwitz, who took control as commander-in-chief of the Reichswehr and adopted a defensive posture against the offensive communist's. However, this created conflicts with other adviser Erich Ludendorff who was calling for a more aggressive strategy.
Kapp meanwhile began preparations to restore the monarchy, the party heavily debated the topic, despite the calls for Wilhelm II return. Many did not to inrage the British nor Franch into declaring war on the newly restored empire while fighting a civilwar.
So many went to an alternative, Kaiser Wilhelm's son "Wilhelm, German Crown Prince", who was crowned, Wilhelm III in September 1920. Several saw this a major victory, despite having to dethrone, Wilhelm II who felt "Backstabbed" by the party's decision.
By the beginning of 1922, both Germany's exhausted, the government finally entered into a ceasefire. With Peace, Wilhelm III persuaded Wolfgang Kapp to lift martial law and restore the former Empire's constitution. The Party agreed to calling for a snap election, Kapp in particularly hoping to secure another term for chancellor.
In the results the German National People's Party won, keeping a majority in the Reichstag, while the other parties The SPD, The Centre Party, The DDP, The German People's Party and new radical right wing, NSDAP were in the opposition.
In June 1922, Wolfgang Kapp was summed to operate to remove his cancer, however died during the operation. His death, threw the nation into a crisis and the party heavily debated to succeed him. In the end, deciding to support Karl Helfferich, a well known staunch monarchist, apart from the far right. Many wanted to appease the Kaiser demands for more powers.
Wilhelm III approved of the choice and then appointed Karl Helfferich as the new chancellor to serve out his term.
By 1923, Wilhelm III's influence within the organization is becoming unquestionable and he has clearly taken over the party and wants to use them to in the imperial facade of democracy.
