Wilhelm II, The former Kaiser of The German Empire from 1888 to 1918 until he was forced to abdicate, fleeing to the Netherlands. During, the House of Hohenzollern restoration he was able to return. However, was quickly separated and moved to Munich in the Nymphenburg Palace and put under house arrest.
Life and Reign:
Wilhelm was born in Berlin on 27 January 1859 to Victoria, Princess Royal and Prince Frederick William of Prussia. After a tramantic birth, leaving his arm withered. As he grew older, he rejected the Liberalism of his parent's following autocratic leaning put him at odds with them. After death of his father at 29, he became Kaiser.
Wilhelm II pushed for 'Germany to have its place in the son' that isolated The German Empire. After the outbreak of war, The Kasier's authority weakened gradually as was simply a figurehead by its end.
In 1918, he forced to abdicate during the German revolution 1918-1919, fleeing to the Netherlands.
Return and Betrayal:
Following the success of the Kapp putsch, Wolfgang Kapp the self-declared chancellor of The German Empire under The German National People's Party began enforcing martial law and preparations to restore the monarchy, inviting any House of Hohenzollern members to return. Wilhelm II, was under the belief, that Wolfgang Kapp was still planning on restoring him to the throne, despite Kapp and The German National People's Party change support of his son, later Wilhelm III.
When the civil war erupted, with The German Soviet Republic led by Communist's taking most of East Germany and Kapps new government securing the West. The war, became a stalemate between the Kaiserless The German Empire under Wolfgang Kapp and The German Soviet Republic. Wilhelm II along with his wife were allowed back into Germany, the Kaiser believed, Kapp would crown him immediately. Instead, he was quickly sent to Munich and was placed under house arrest in Nymphenburg Palace.
The Former Kaiser, was both confused and angry, especially as his contacts in The German National People's Party we're informing him that Wolfgang Kapp and most of the party approved the decision that Wilhelm II's son would be crowned Kaiser. When, he was later told directly by his captives that Wolfgang Kapp was coming to explain the situation. Wilhelm, retorted, "The damn bastard wants to meet after backstabbing me, I don't need his exsues!".
When Wolfgang Kapp arrived, he tried his best to come from the heart, explaining that the current civil war with communist's and the risk of more fronts opening from France or Britain, if they restored him, was not an option. Despite, Kapp's promise's if, he accepted his situation, became an advisor to his son, and be free within the homeland. The conservation escalated when, Wilhelm II lost his tempter and calling him and the party, "Traitors and Coward's" refusing the idea of giving his blessing.
By the end, Kapp calmly told the Kaiser, he had two choices, bless his son's coronation or remain under house arrest. Wilhelm II, replied, "I'd rather, rot here than give my birthrights to someone who doesn't deserve it." Solidifying his choice to be held captive within his own new home and with a heavy heart, Wolfgang left.
