The capital city of the Monhalian Union. Surrounds the larger of the two spaceports in the young country.
History
As a settlement, Elsion was founded a few years after the de la Rosa royal family moved to Monhal. Its position near the base of the mountains protected it from the wort of the weather, and its comparatively rocky ground kept the worst of the plantlife away. However, it also made it inconvenient for anyone from Elsion to take the journey to the northern half of the continent, with the mountains preventing easy transit and plants preventing most ships from landing outside of a well-kept spaceport. Despite these drawbacks, the settlement grew over time into a thriving city. Many rich families made their homes along its outer edges, including the de la Rosas who had a vacation villa in the region. Construction on a spaceport began during the Monhalian War of Independence, with locals using any materials they could to develop a safe space for ships to land without being overrun. After the war, it became the official home of surviving royals, Elias de la Rosa and Max de la Rosa. Once the spaceport was complete, a project that took nearly a decade of slow work, most expected the duke to officially announce Elsion as the capital city of the Monhalian Union. This proclamation never came, however, as the duke barely took notice of such developments. It took the official dissolution of the monarchy and instatement of a parliament to have the city be officially recognized. Today it's home of the country's parliament and receives more off-planet visitors than anywhere else in the Monhalian Union, though isn't remotely as popular as Abraia Central.Devalian Locations
