Nature Fae Ethnicity in The Realms Beyond | World Anvil

Nature Fae

Nature Fae are myriad and common in the Realms, these are fae attached to an aspect of nature such as a grove of trees, a field of flowers, a lake, or guardians of more vulnerable types of fae that retain a certain tie to something elemental all the same. They are often inhuman in some way, though can pass as human when they wish to. Humans have come up with countless names for these types of beings:   Nymphs of water, air, earth, fire and celestial bodies; Tolkien's Ints; satyrs and fauns; minotaurs, centaurs and other blended beast and human types.    Fae that shift fully animal are shapeshifters, but those that have between forms are most often Nature Fae of some sort. As one of the most common races Nature Fae are present in all the Courts, choosing their own alignments as suits them. The blended types tend to have family groups, nature nymphs often have gatherings as well, while others are solitary creatures. Nymphs, satyr and faun are not gender specific terms.

Inherent Abilities

  • One With Nature - (Racial) - Being part of nature means communing with nature is effortless for these fae; for nymphs that means becoming one with the aspect they are a part of like a dryad melting into a tree, a celestial returning to the sky. The land speaks to these fae.
(For any Nature Fae type interacting with nature in the aspect they are connected to costs them nothing as an ability.)

Community Style

While some Nature Fae have gatherings like a grove of dryads considering each other sisters they are not actually all related in their groups, and a fair amount of Nature Fae are solitary creatures. There are others who are more likely to live in groups, like most Minotaurs belonging to herds.
