Nymphs
Nymphs are counted among the children of the universe. They, among other spirits descend onto the Land during the great demonwar to save the mortal races from total extinction by demons .
Nymphs, or occasionally called mermaids, are waterspirits and therefore found only along rivers, in lakes or at the sea. They live in caves underwater.
Their magic is in their voice which makes them incredibly dangerous to any mortal. Especially in men they seem to have taken interest, having themselves mostly taken the shapes of beautiful women. Often they lure men with singing into their reach to play with them. These games however often including sexual orgies can end deadly for the mortals. Most commonly the mortals die by exhaustion. On other occasions a nymphe might drag a mortal, cought by her spell, under water and drown him for they do not understand the mortals“ need for air.
On rare occasion a mortal can resist their magical luring. But even if one does when he feels the force of their magic it may already be to late. If already in vincinity to their home they may come upon the mortals out of curiosity but may turn quickly into furious beasts if one openly dejects them. At this a mortals“ life is doomed and he may only hope for a quick and painless death.
There is hardly any contact sought by the mortals exept by some few young adventurers who go out to conquer the whole world. Few of them are ever seen again.
It is deemed wise to respect their presence, give them space and stay a fair distance away from their homes for once settled they do not move homes unless forced to do so.
