Coku Stead Settlement in The Fruit of War | World Anvil

Coku Stead (KOH-koo)

The Coku Stead was a historical faun stead referenced in the faun myth of "The Coku and the Kythyk’jun the Mountain-Leaper", which in turn features heavily in the pseudo-mythical origin of the Earthborn Star of Pel-dohest.   In the tale, the Coku Stead was created when five inspired individuals brought their disparate steads together to form an unusually large one in the Dohest Valley (later speculated as the site of Pel-dohest itself), which would then go on to defend their home from Kythyk'jun and his forces. In oral tradition the stead then separated again in order to keep watch over the valley, thus forming the foundation for the five protective sites -- later castles -- of the Earthborn Star.   As such, the Coku Stead cannot be said to still exist as either a collective or a settlement, though some fauns in the area will call themselves Coku in addition to their main stead, or call themselves or their stead 'descended from the Coku', and some refer to Pel-dohest as the Coku Stead in terms of a physical site.
