Ember, The Fire Sorceress

Ember is the daughter of Vallencia and Kyranos. She has inherited fire sorcery from her father and a healer's kind touch from her mother.
Ember's mother, Vallencia, has insisted that she attend The Loreweavers Festival without her. Vallencia still grieves for her husband and has not left her home among The Fire Clans since word of his death reached Akir. Ember wasn't sure if she wanted to go as she feels the need to comfort her mother. Her best friend, Alikaine, The Loreweaver, promised that Ember would feel better if she got out of the house. The two ventured off together despite Ember's hesitations.

Fire Sorcery

Ember has only begun to practice throwing fire, an ability that has recently awakened within her. She struggles to control the direction that she flings the pyroclastic blasts toward and has caused a few minor fires in her backyard when she missed the stone targets her father built for her.
The cost of using sorcery powered by her Dragon Blood is heavy. As a sorceress, she must learn to wield the power of her heritage carefully. The magic burns through her constitution. Pushing herself too far can lead to severe hunger, thirst, dizziness, disorientation, coma, and even death.

I empathize with her. Dizziness, feeling the world close in around you, and then blacking out is a terrifying experience that I know all too well.

Aspirant Defender

Kyranos strongly objected when his daughter confessed that she wanted to join The Defenders of Akir. He did not want his daughter to become a warrior but rather thought she should focus on finding happiness at home among The Fire Clans. He built the stone targets in their backyard and encouraged her to learn how to use her powers but did not want to see his daughter end up in cosmic warfare at The Void's Edge.
After news of the ambush that killed Kyranos and many other Defenders of Akir reached home, Ember applied to become a recruit. She is considered an Aspirant, a hopeful candidate but not a full member.

Vareena's Obsession

Ember's cruel aunt, Vareena, has sent Ambroze, The Vampire, and Spite, The Demon Dog, to track down Ember and bring her to The Demonheart Vault. Vareena's supply of Dragon Blood has begun to run low after her many failed attempts to create more Vampires at the prison hidden under the glaciers of The Icewraith Expanse.
Once Ember arrives at the prison, Vareena can't help but see the same empathetic kindness within Ember that caused Kyranos to fall in love with Vallencia in the first place. Vareena's jealousy of her sister blooms into an unreasonable hatred of her young niece. She keeps Ember close at hand to emotionally torment the girl throughout her imprisonment.
