Season 9, Episode 13: "Jailbreak" Report

General Summary

The Calamity Prism split open, revealing its core, and the pact at the foundation of the existence that was Mist, Bard, and Warden rose to the surface. Seven mortals were freed from the Prism, stepping onto the Material Plane for the first time in centuries, flexing power on the scale of demigods and Elder Numens.   The Puppetmaster and Vikkar Kozlova left immediately, not making their intent or allegiance known. Emilia Song attempted to destroy the Prism, but was intercepted by Chamas and Nicodemus, and then Skipped away before further conflict could develop. Drikka Masson — who bore a disturbing similarity to Lockette and knew Luna by name — greeted Lockette as "Father" and then "Mother", and left to Noma to meet with the Protocites. Foly wished the Warden ill and the Bard well, and bid Mist good luck, before passing through the threshold of the temple and into the wilds. Lea mistook Isra as Wynrey, and then warned that ill tidings were on the way, before vanishing in a flash of eldritch flame.   Only Bogwart Yitbitter stuck around for any length of time, trading Flay a usage of Unari's Spectacles in return for a powerful antidote, said to be capable of curing any poison in existence. He engaged in a few pleasantries, but then claimed he needed to be on the road, and suddenly the temple was back to its original state, sans the Prism in Mist's hand...   A call from TRAVIS broke the silence, announcing that Kass was waiting outside the ship, asking to see Isra. The Android Skipped ahead of her party, with Flay visiting Aroden in Unari's Spectacles to gain more information about what had just happened, and Mist beginning an hours-long ritual required to access and manipulate his new artifact. Kass warned Isra that fate had begun to converge around her, and that she could not see a future where both her and Cornelius — who Kass recognized as "Munin", the scion of Memory — survived the upcoming conflict. Then she left, claiming that she and Isra would never see each other again.   Somewhat skeptical, the group did their due diligence questioning the scope of the mess they'd just walked into. But after consulting Binder's knowledge and getting some advice from Hecate, they determined that the return of Zandeer as an Aspect of Crow had begun to warp the fabric of reality. Using a book once held by a mysterious entity called the Soul Divided, Zandeer was able (and through his corruption, willing) to constrict fate as was done in the days of old, before the failed return of Aroden. While he could not eliminate mortal choice entirely, it did seem that he had created a world where neither Isra or Cornelius could live while the other survived...   Troubled, the group tried to get some rest, and Flay tried to send a comforting dream to her people. Instead, the dream was intercepted by Zandeer, and then corrupted by the Black Owl, sending night terrors to everyone in Ralhoma. Flay too was cursed by this interference, all while Lockette had strange dreams of Drikka and Luna, and woke to find herself blessed by the Wonder.   In the morning, Chamas and Abelina decided to scout the opposite wilds for other signs of the Grays, and the rest of the group targeted the area discovered by Lockette in the day prior. But over breakfast, Anastasia asked after the gift she had recently given Mist, drawing a crowd at the table as Mist rolled out the scroll, and both the Mercenary and Isra recognized the item for what it truly was...   An Infinity Scroll.   But with the text blank, and the scroll constantly trying to pull in those who touched it, the group decided it was too dangerous to tinker with while so much else lingered. Which was — of course — the moment Mist jabbed his hand into the scroll, and ink rose to the surface to say "HELLO".

Notes

The deep lore bubbles to the surface... :)   Also when I say any poison, this is my GM's promise — I mean any poison... That is an actual, mechanical poison. Not like, a metaphorical poison. Unless the argument in favor of using it is cool enough that I have to say yes.
