Sadly, Riktar's health failed nearly a decade ago when he contracted consumption after a winter campaign north and east of Wargun. While he was never the soldier that his brother was, Riktar had insisted upon leaving the campaign - to ride the region of Goblin raiders that had joined forces with Human bandits more to demonstrate to his grandfather that he was fit to be duke than out of an true martial desire. As he his wife had never been able to successfully bear a child, his death thrust Fendrick to the position of reluctant heir.
