Redstone River
Flowing out of the Grey Peaks, through the Eastwood and across the Clay Steppes, the Redstone River gets its name the ruddy colored clay and copious round stones that make up its bed. Its trip past the Firmont gives the waters upstream a bit of an acrid, sulfurous taste, but the clay filters that flavor out on its journey westward until it is barely present near Gryphon's Crossing. Filled with waterfowl, fish, turtles and in some places crocodiles, the river teems with life, especially in the Eastwood. As it moves through the settlements of the Hinterlands, the wildlife thins, though the occasional crocodile makes swimming hazardous as far west as Innsburg. Despite its journey through most of the Hinterlands, and its girth, few use the river a means of travel, preferring instead to follow a path that runs along western shore. Those that do find the journey relatively easy as the current is light, though its depth means that boats must have a shallow draft.
