Gulf of Azermathia
The warm waters of this oddly shaped gulf are filled shallow ridges topped with colorful corals. The reefs, though treacherous for ships, teem with a rainbow explosion of small fish that live amongst its crags and nooks. This bounty, of course, brings predators in the from offshore currents in the Darsiac Ocean. These large fish - with their swords and sails - are the true bounty of the sea that first brought Humanity to Azermathia.
After a nearly century of fishing, the largest are now scarce and of the fishing villages around the Gulf only Rathgar still relies on the sea for its livelihood, though they rely as much on shipping goods from the interior of the sub-continent as they do their fleet of fishing vessels that invariably travel beyond the gulf. Despite the paucity of large fish, or perhaps because of it, the languid waters still hold great shoals of sardines and other schooling fish that live outside of the reefs. In the winter these schools arrive, followed by great pods of dolphins and packs of sharks, making even the bravest weary to dip into the ocean during the warmest months. Sailors heading in and out of Rathgar Bay even claim that on the storm nights the sharks gather around the shallowest ridges, circling ships as if waiting for them to wreck and dump their operators into the sea like a feast of set out upon a tavern table.
