Tales from the other worlds World of Magic Timeline

World of Magic

It is those moments greater than our imagination that reset the clock; the Collapse of magic and the death of the Lady of Mysteries, the fall of Ashteril; most recently the Event.

After the Collapse

0 DE -> ~5000 DE

An age of chaos eventually gives way to the rise of mortal kingdoms, a veil of stability, and deific interference from afar. As the mortals are free to explore, they eventually find the boundaries of their world.   The era ends when newcomers arrive, seemingly from beyond the boundaries, just in time to save the world from a raising threat. But at what cost?

    The Day of Three Kings
    Life, Death

    Taking advantage of a still-recovering Cade, the elves of House Chalass attack the city with overwhelming numbers. On that day three brothers hold the title of King, defending the city and the crown of Arleaon when their sibling falls before them. None of the brothers survive the night. The youngest, a talented mage of only 14, breaks the elf siege by turning himself and the partially constructed mage tower into a pillar of sunlight.   After that day Cade is often referred to as The City of Three Kings and is later renamed Three Kings in their honor.

    The Event
    Geological / environmental event

    Just as peace and prosperity had begun to take hold of Arleaon, a still-unexplained force sunders the world and joined it to another; one of fantastic flying ships and miraculous music boxes sending voices across the sea. "Like a mismatched holiday egg" a popular newspaper describes it. Most simply call it the Event.

    Ghent's Rapid Recovery
    Construction beginning/end

    Ghent's recovery from its unexpected assault barely two months earlier has been astonishing. The once placid town is now the center of scientific study, a haven for the kingdom's displaced, and a tavern tour destination.   Now under new management, the Duckling, the town's central watering hole, is more than double its original size with lodging and fare to rival the finest of Three Kings.   The Duckling's staff surprises some, but lycan pups and night elves are hardly the rarest sights in Ghent. Service is exceptional and everyone is welcome; especially those who prefer their food on the rare side.

    No Longer a One Horse Town
    Population Migration / Travel

    The seaside town of Ghent sees an influx of commerce and a spike in population. Once called the "One Horse Town", Ghent's residents literally included only a single horse; a copper-brown roan the locals named An'ya. Locals believed An'ya to be good luck, crediting her with warding off aggressors in the years following Mako the Honorbound's departure. Travelers through the village cursed, often complained that their own horses refused to enter.   The curse has now lifted. The town's equine mascot is nowhere to be seen. Mounted merchants and horsedrawn caravans enter the city freely. Locals, however, claim An'ya's presence still protects their town, curiously looking up as they remember.
