The port city of Cade, second city of the Edrian empire, is set ablaze as a casualty of war. Despite many lives lost, the city stands and becomes a stronghold for King Hune's Faithful.

The ruling family of Cade is closely aligned with King Hune, being close in the family line. Early in the war, members of King Aaron’s army set the city alight, hoping to deny King Hune’s armies the use of the walled city as a stronghold and port to give access to the nearby Kel’ust islands, if they tried to escape.   The city is heavily damaged. The castle district in particular is burned out entirely, and the southern markets and docks are evacuated and left ablaze. However, the walls help to contain the fire and much of the residential area remains undamaged. Owun, the patriarch ruler of Cade, is killed and his eldest son Tovius is recalled from the battlefront to take command of the city.
