Military action
As if in poetic simile, three warriors of the Caith’loral Dynasty suffer their own terrible loss as they fight beside the citizens and leaders of Cade.
The elves field three commanders on the Day of Three Kings. A sun elf known only as The Drake leads a small infantry unit within the walls of Cade. She stands by the side of the brave but inexperienced Wymund from the time he picks up the crown until they both fall to overwhelming forces, allowing Eliot, the youngest brother, to escape to the mage tower where he will ultimately halt the attack. In the years following the battle she is immortalized in song and tale by the city's citizens, often remembered as one of their own due to her sacrifice. Lady Sa’Lene, the commander of the rangers, defends the eastern farmlands from the opportunistic Lizardfolk and their great black dragon mother Orosis. While she downs the great best and routs the horde before they ever make it within range of Cade’s wall, her unit suffers unrecoverable casualties. Commander Nylian Davaris’ cavalry fairs the best in the battle. Preventing the attackers from flanking the city’s north side and trapping Lady Sa’Lene’s already overwhelmed forces, the young commander suffers minimal casualties. The morning after the battle, Commander Davaris’s cavalry is recalled to Evala. The Queen's Caith’loral's court fears an assault on their capital like the one that cost them Ashteril a millennium prior. Daravis follows orders, returning in haste, but an attack never comes. Months later rumors surface of Commander Davaris planning to pursue the retreating army rather than return to Evala. Soldiers within his unit even claim he cited battle plans of the infamous Xanril Arborshale, the commander whose mistakes are credited for losing Ashteril. Without a trial, Davaris is discharged from service.
