As fires are put out and order is restored in the City of Light and Three Kings, both cities strive to curb migration and preserve their sovereignty.

Immediately following the Event, desperate, curious, and adventurous people from both worlds cross over to make new lives for themselves and see what the other world has to offer. The majority of people, however, stay where they are and try to recover what they can of their lives. Many fear that the Event is only temporary and don’t want to be caught on the other side if it reverses.   Three Kings, a city built of walls, continues its tradition and builds a barricade to prevent passage between the two cities. The City of Light follows suit. The effort is primarily symbolic. The Divide spans the globe and anyone can simply leave the city to cross the Divide in the open country. Building a wall around the planet is insanity. But for 3 years the governments of the United States and Arleaon do not officially allow people to cross the Divide without permission, and the passing of magic and technology is strictly forbidden.
