Alderweld

Alderweld is a small settlement that straddles the fringe of the Susmis Swamps and the shores of Blacktide Bay. Primarily a fishing village, it is a few days journey from any other settlements, with the closest being the large seaport of Isenwold roughly a 120 miles to the east (to which a plain dirt road does exist). Another, even smaller fishing settlement called Moritan exists on the western-most point of the bay and can be reached by boat or though the swamp, though there exists few reasons for anyone from Alderweld to go there.   A new settlement, Hoen, has recently been started roughly 40 miles to the south of Alderweld for the purpose of creating additional logging and trapping resources for Isenwold. The settlement is being spearheaded by junior members of the Trade Guild seeking to establish a name for themselves.

Industry & Trade

Alderweld is centered around fishing. Very little is done in the town that is not in someway associated with this industry. Of course there are support personnel as well (those able to sew, work with metal, fix houses, etc). But most of these are fishermen first who have learned a secondary skill as a necessity or way to generate additional income.
  There is a small but growing industry for "seaweed milking", which includes collecting the black oil secreted by the NocturnWeed , which involves wading into the surf while the tide is coming in and pulling up the seaweed as it begins to secrete the oil, quickly positioning it in such a way as to let the oil drip into jar or other container.
