Blacktide Bay
Large bay on the south-western side of the Abyss . Called Blacktide Bay because of a specific type of seaweed that grows near the shore (NocturnWeed) which emits a dark black oil during high tide.
The amount of oil secreted varies with the time of day and season, and the oil breaks down relatively quickly in saltwater. The result is that there are periods of time (twice a day) where the bay water becomes almost completely black for an hour or two. The surrounding wildlife has adapted, and the villages on the shore are used to it, so to them it is more a curiosity than anything to be concerned about.
Of late a cottage industry has arisen centered on the laborious process of "milking" the NocturnWeed at high tide for use in dyes and as a trades good for neighboring kingdoms.
